Use to be local to the 452 and I have to say this is ridiculous. The 452 should just remain at Ladbroke Grove Sainsbury’s at the very least if it’s impossible to return it to Kensal Rise as it seems that there’s no space for the 28/302/452 to all stand there as some of the new realm works have taken over old stand space. Currently, the 452 has to turn around by going to Westbourne Park Garage to stand and then it turns back to start journeys at Ladbroke Grove Sainsbury’s. I would just create a new stand next to the Sainsbury’s car park for the 452 and make the Ladbroke Grove Sainsbury’s cut permanent if it absolutely cannot return to Kensal Rise due to a lack of stand space thanks to the new pavement realm works meaning there might only be space for the 28/302 to stand there. The 452 being cut to Notting Hill Gate is disastrous, much rather keep the route at Ladbroke Grove as the cut to LG Sainsbury’s isn’t that bad and the 52/316 are adequate from there to Kilburn Lane before the 316 turns right into Queen’s Park and the 52 further down to Kensal Rise. The 52 will not absolutely be able to cope from Notting Hill Gate where both the 52/452 load heavily in both directions all the way to Kensal Rise and it is taking a bit of a mickey by only having 1 extra journey to compensate for the 452’s loss. Even Kensington & Chelsea Council have launched a whole campaign to keep the 452 as it is and stated that the 52 will become very busy, will not be able to cope and rush hour even worse. It was only in 2016 when Kensal Town and Ladbroke Grove gained a new link further south into Nine Elms and Vauxhall and now those links are being erased by cutting the 452 to Notting Hill Gate. The 452 is now also more vulnerable for GAL to try gain the route and run it south of the river but I hope RATP keep the 452 regardless as the EvoSetis and WHs are sufficient enough for a 5 year contract and the VNs should’ve been withdrawn a long time ago as there’s enough VMHs and WHs but I imagine they can keep the VNs and use them on the 31 temporarily and converting the 452 to a full VMH/WH allocation in the process
@MostlyBuses19 күн бұрын
Yeah it's just so stupid that they're cutting a route which has seen passenger numbers increase. The planned starting point at Notting Hill Gate is also inconveniently located. And they're not even providing a good alternative with one journey on the 52 in peak times. It's ridiculous.
@MostlyBuses19 күн бұрын
Tbh I think GAL would do a much better job on the 452 than RATP do. They've used so many curtailments (Wandsworth Road, Sloane Square and Notting Hill Gate). On a fairly average Saturday there were somehow three buses in a row curtailed to Sloane Square from Vauxhall!!! And I don't get how I saw so many bunchings yesterday (there was a diversion but it wasn't that bad). @zfs.598 күн бұрын
@@MostlyBuses1If GAL do win the 452 tho, I can see MMCs from the 171 or 172’s being used. It’ll be a nice return of ADL vehicles to the route after it started off life in 2006 initially temporarily using spare ALX400s and then brand new 56 reg E400s later arrived for its allocation when QB won the new 452. Then the 452 continued with the 56 reg E400s until 2018 when TT won it on the basis of using 11 reg DNs from the 30. GAL then decided to buy some of the 30’s DNs for the 51 and 320 and TT then had an exodus amount of 11 reg VNs leftover from the 25’s huge PVR cut when it was cutback from Oxford Circus and those VNs were then reallocated to the 452 and D8 instead and the D8 was another route that was meant to get 11 reg DNs from the 30. The DNs that didn’t go to GAL for the 51 were sent off lease and withdrawn from TT’s fleet. As for those 56/07 reg E400s, I’m surprised Abellio even kept them after the 452’s loss as they were quite old for them to try use them again to retain it in 2018 being 11-12 years old. IIRC those ex-452 E400s went all over to WS (for the 278/350/U5), BC (for the 109/407 initially then the 270), TF (for the 285) and some stayed back at QB as spares and some went to WL for the 415 to free up MMCs for the 207 as there wasn’t enough LTs for the 415 at the time in April 2019. I do hope RATP retain the 452 as it’s nice seeing RATP down south around Vauxhall and Battersea and it’s just unique. I do like the EvoSetis on the 452 especially with refurbishment and the RATP maquette and I do like the VNs too but they will sadly go whether the 452 is kept by RATP or lost and the StreetDecks are alright but are quite boring and I much prefer G2/G3 VHs on the 452 over the StreetDecks. I hope RATP improve the 452’s service if they do retain it which is likely as they did keep the 49 despite QB attempting to bid for the route again
@ms_19318 күн бұрын
If this does go ahead they should extend 295 to Kensal Rise. The 452 does parallel the 52 for some time tbh but that still shouldn’t be a reason to cut it. It’s like the 427 cut literally got sliced in half and the route still gets packed to the brim for basically its entire route. They didn’t even increase 207s PVR or SL8(607) after 427 was cut, that was one of TfLs worst decisions ever. If they wanted to cut the 427 they should’ve cut it to Ealing Broadway not Southall. 427 PVR is now 15, it should be at least 20 even if its route is short 427 is a very busy route.
