We don’t need new train cars. We need less train traffic, more trains arriving on time, cleaner and upgraded stations. We need lower fares, $2.75 for the god awful service the MTA provided is a joke

How do you suggest having "less train traffic?" The trains are already over crowded. The only 2 ways to fix that are run more trains, or have people move out of the city. The subway partly sucks because it's so cheap. They should start charging much higher rates, and then offer fair assistance to low income people.

@@rpvitiello 1. They already offer low fare metrocards to older people. 2. Unless you haven't been living in NYC, you should know that the metrocard fare continues to go up higher and higher as time passes. We went from $2.50 (3 years ago) to $2.75 (today).

I might be really late, but the R179 has worse performance than the R160s and required 4x the amount of maintenance needed. The programs (route information) are also glitched out very commonly, with a big pause between sections of announcements. The other minor issues are fixed by an updated set of R179s.

Sharon Watkins 1.) those are 4-car units, so no, and 2.) Why would they get them now when the Queens Blvd Line is getting CBTC for the F line service, and 1486 R160s are getting retrofitted with CBTC equipment? As much as I want to have the CBTC use the newest cars, I think they should wait for the R211s to come, then Queens Blvd will really be in for a ride.
