Been carrying this knife almost daily for a year now. Great work knife. Super tough. Let my coworker borrow it the other day and he promptly cut open a can of ravioli with it. Dulled it some of course but the knife got the job done and five minutes on my stones and she was shaving sharp again. Been a great blade that I'm proud to own

Love the blade shape.. They should do one as an integral. It kind of reminds me of a Peter Rassenti design.

I have the brown Micarta clip point in 154cm and love it. Good review. The only thing I wish is that it had some slight jimping on the flipper tab.

I took my Dremel and cut some into my flipper. It ain't pretty but I bought this knife to use as a heavy work knife so I'm not to concerned with the looks. So far she's been a tough, good working knife.

Great video/review Nick. I really like the look of the Pretatout. I am thinking about getting the black (gray) micarta 154cm version.

Thanks for your excellent review. I also have a Pelican, and it's a terrific knife with excellent action. This knife, I think, is a bit heavier duty, and how can you not love the lines? I was probably going to buy it, but I pulled the trigger in the middle of your review. Thanks for letting me go to bed a little earlier than I might have. I watch you regularly and really love how you cover a wide range of prices, not just the premium stuff. I have between 150 and 200 knives, and the majority are premium brands. I couldn't have accumulated this collection if I had started today, which seems sad. I understand inflation, but I think a good many manufacturers are using that to raise prices. They're going to knock a lot of regular folk out of the premium market. Knife prices have gone up so fast and so high that I'm now buying some lesser-known brands. I've always bought a few, but mainly on a whim versus my current strategy. I ended up with knives I didn't care about, but not anymore. Every knife is researched and given prudent thought before it's purchase. I don't do much serious cutting, so why should I insist on premium brands and steels? I'm buying fewer and fewer knives from A-list companies. 154cm and 14C28N are good-enough steels much of the time, even if they're not "super." Micarta can fill in for carbon fiber. eBay's lightly used stuff is often a good buy if you spend time learning the market. I've done that with several brands, and I pick up a fair amount of it. I still like buying premium quality so long as the knives are $200 or less. That won't buy you much of a Benchmade these days, and many Spydercos have also jumped over that line. TwoSun gives you great value and, of course, the easy fallback, Civivi. Let me get out of here! Thanks for providing space for my subdued rant.

I like mine in black micarda but the detent is insanely tight. Hoping it'll break in some. I cleaned it and removed coating from the detent ball and it helped some but still too heavy. But I love the 154 and it's a nice heavy use knife. Big knife that I'll beat on.

Oh that’s not good.. The detent isn’t too heavy lol. You are resting your fingers on the lock bar when you try to deploy it. Try resting your pinky, ring, and middle fingers on the pocket clip and then use the flipper tab for deployment. Or if you have trouble doing that for some reason, try opening the knife left handed and you will see it’s not the detent, but you causing the knife to lock out. Also, detent balls usually don’t have any type of coating on them, and removing any material on them isn’t going to lighten your detent anyway.. It’s just going to give you a wicked case of detent lash. Hope you didn’t ruin your knife..

@@evanacey1414 the detent ball on the liner lock is built into the liner and by lightly removing the black coating off the ball, it helped the action tremendously. I also cut some gimping into the flipper tab which it needed from the factory. It'll be a good heavy use work knife that I'll beat the shit out of. So far so good. Sharpens up nicely and with a toothy edge, it cuts and slices nicely. Goes through tough rubber hoses like butter.

Does anyone know where you can send off a knife for a regrind. Specifically ive got a few flat grind knives that would do well with a nice hollow.

Or if they would use Cruwear or 3v but they will always use the steels that’s they can get there hands on the easiest in large quantities and most of the time they will purchase it in bulk and you usually won’t See them change until they run out of it. But I’m definitely feeling the same as you. If it were me that’s how I would set myself ap from the pack at least till it didn’t work anymore 👌

@@carlito5552 it was definitely the smartest move they made especially since they had just lost almost all of their employees and designers so it was genius, they had no new designs while trying to recruit new people so release old designs in desirable steels, I’m shocked more overseas companies haven’t taken note on how well that has been working for them
