“This is controversial because….everything is controversial” this is statement is so true 😂 I watched this transfer and thought it was great. I mean I’ve seen better 4k films but it was still really good, imo. And not nearly as bad as some have made it out be and I would easily recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of the film. It’s disappointing when there’s a negative label attached to a transfer like this, before it releases. Saw way too many people canceling preorders

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is my favorite Leone Western. Once is number #2. There is still another Spaghetti western (not Leone's but his idea) I'd like see get an upgrade, "My Name is Nobody" which has an opening shootout that rivals "once". Leone's gangster epic "Once Upon a Time in America" could do with an upgrade as well.

I personally love both Spaghetti westerns as well as American Westerns. I think your spot on about your assessment of Spaghetti Westerns being very formulaic and kind of Comic booky. I’d also add that typically I find the music in Italian Westerns and Italian films in general, to be much more prominent and in your face, which I love. Gotta give a shout out to the Corbucci westerns, as The Great Silence is one of my personal favorite westerns of all time.

Colors look better, texture and detail looks worse because by removing grain they removed detail and made the shots slightly blurry. Most people don't seem to notice though, but when overlayed with the blu-ray master it's clear.

LET'S GET HARRY was directed by Stuart Rosenberg, a director probably best known for COOL HAND LUKE, AMITYVILLE HORROR, and THE POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE. Apparently, Rosenberg asked his name to be taken off the film because without his involvement additional footage of Mark Harmon was shot and edited into the film to capitalize on Harmon's growing fame. Rosenberg only directed one more film in his life. He died in 2007.

Interesting comments on film 'heaviness'. Recently purchased the Kino Lorber edition of the Duane Jones thriller GANJA AND HESS. It is a disturbing film that also stayed with me for days after viewing. Not particularly gory - only a couple scenes with blood - but an uncomfortable film that expects you to do some of the heavy lifting. It actually serves as an excellent companion to Jone's previous NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. A real winner but a heavy pic indeed.

Great update! For BOBBY DEERFIELD, Columbia had US distribution rights and Warners had distribution rights outside the US. BOBBY DEERFIELD and CASTLE KEEP is a very strange double feature. DC Animated announced that they will be releasing an animated version of WATCHMEN after the third part of CRISIS. So, I wouldn't listen to sub space chatter. I remember LET'S GET HARRY as a pretty good film. Mark Harmon originally only appeared at the end of the film. He blew up before the movie opened, and the producers added a couple of new scenes with Harmon being abducted, etc. The director, Stuart Rosenberg, didn't agree with the additions and asked for his name to be taken off the film. STRANGE INVADERS is a very entertaining follow-up to the great STRANGE BEHAVIOR (aka DEAD KIDS). Paul Le Mat is the co-star, and several of the actors in STRANGE BEHAVIOR are in INVADERS Louise Fletcher, Charles Lane (you'll recognize him), June Lockhart, Kenneth Tobey, and the amazing Fiona Lewis. You should try to interview David J. Schow. In addition to his fiction and work on films, he has written several amazing books on the original "The Outer Limits" series. Remember, Heath, it can't rain all of the time. What's up with the hair?

I think the biggest problem with The Crow is that it's an unfinished movie. After the tragedy, they stopped shooting and then much later, after financing was found, they shot with a body double and then tried to edit what they had into a movie. The movie we got is not the movie they planned to make--and it shows!

Hi Heath! Love your show! IMPORTANT QUESTION ABOUT THE 4K “ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST”! Pop your disc into your player and go to the very end with the title credits and listen to the music. DOES THE FILM FADE OUT WITH A JAUNTY, WHISTLING PIECE (Addio Cheyenne) OR WITH FULL STRING ORCHESTRA WITH VOICE (Finale)??? All HD physical media versions have the wrong ending with the altered musical soundtrack! The film should end with the beautiful elegiac music by Ennio Morricone’s full orchestra and voice, NOT with his “happy-go-lucky” whistling piece! The altered music ruins the emotional impact of the ending. I don’t want to buy another copy of this great film with the weaker revisionist ending! I read that Paramount was going to fix this… have they?

I think this constant fetishisation of grain is just ridiculous. If you want it grainy, watch a DVD copy. The whole point of higher definition formats is to experience a clearer picture. Overly grainy 4Ks look like trash and are complete waste of the format.

Grain has detail in the analog format
@TucoRope2Tight7 ай бұрын
The point of higher definition is to see what was captured on the negatives in high definition rather than in low definition. Not to transform the movie to your personal taste and technical preferences. Grain is part of the film, like brush strokes on a painting. Removing the grain removes detail, which is visible by direct comparison, the 4K looks blurry in places compared to the Blu-Ray.
