Love the idea of a regular translated/global fiction video Katja! I think the focus on reading only translated works can miss countries where many authors write in English such as India and South Africa so global fiction works well. I was only aware of Mammoth so thank you for highlighting so many new titles, especially the new Jokha Alharthi. I loved Celestial Bodies and although Bitter Orange Tree didn’t work quite as well, I’m really interested in Silken Gazelles.

Thanks, Jo! That's brilliant feedback. And, I'm more certain of my decision to have Celestial Bodies and Silken Gazelles on my TBR now 😊

Hi Katja, I always turn to your channel for translated fiction. Unfortunately, I don’t get along with magical realism, but you have a few here that hits the spot for me. One is the laundromat because I also love stories of community and I also read Elena knows. I read it in Spanish first because I couldn’t get an English copy. And it was a different experience than when I read it in English. It was a very interesting book. I bought Claudia Pinero book boulder but I haven’t read it yet. I was expecting to read it with buddy but the reading fell through. I’ve been reading Japanese mysteries recently translated and having a great time, even though the last one didn’t work for me. It was called pro bono by my new favorite author Seicho Matsumoto. I’m still going to read all of his books that were translated because I lived in Japan for 3 years and loved being back there in the world of hispostwar Japan. I was there in 2003 but many of the street scenes and the customs are still very similar. Have a wonderful time reading. Aloha friend.

Thank you, Maya! 💛 You just reminded me I have Matsumoto's Tokyo Express and still haven't read it! Sounds like I'll enjoy it.

Wonderful video idea, I'll be looking forward to more of these! I did not get on with Boulder but loved Permafrost so I'm looking forward to reading Mammoth. I did not know there was a new Pineiro coming out, sounds wonderful.

Exciting list! I only knew of Mammoth and Time of the Flies. I'm most excited about Time of the Flies because Claudia Pineiro is brilliant.

Thanks, Arianne. Agreed, CP has such a brilliant style. I'm excited about all the books, but especially for TotF and Canneti's 😊. Also TOtF is now showing a 6 August publication date, so that's 2 weeks sooner than I originally expected ✨️

So what is the distinction between a triptych and a trilogy, when it comes to books? 🤔
@PageTurnersWithKatja2 ай бұрын
I think in this case, it's to create a sequence showing different elements of the same subject matter rather than being a continuous story /stories.
