@POOLIEY9 ай бұрын
This is an amazing thing to do. Theoretically reproducing the right fender should be a quicker process now. Only needing to mirror the left CAD file and add additional things like the antenna hole. Seeing this done for the doors and rear fender would be amazing.

Well, right now there are nearly 1,000 doors in the build, and at least hundreds of the other 6 panels. Hopefully we're done with reproducing SS panels for a long time!

That looks like a good stamping. I am a Metalshaper out of Santa Ana, Ca. Your process of scanning, printing key areas, shows a great fitment. Much of the reproduction parts for 1950-70 mustangs, tri five, Camaros etc are not good. They lack all edge, flange etc fitment. Often to bulbous as well. Awesome work guys.

Is this going to be an ongoing/multiple production run, or is it more of a one time run? I just really don’t want to miss out on this!
@deloreanmotorco9 ай бұрын
That depends mostly on how many we sell. With parts that haven't been (readily) available for years it always challenging to predict long term demand after the pent up demand is satisfied. One thing I've learned is that prices rarely come down over the long term, and generally increase. Even if the initial run is in stock for years, holding costs and inflation in general will cause prices to increase as time passes.

@@deloreanmotorco exactly. The previous owner had damaged it but it wasn't looking bad enough to justify spending that much on it. But at the same time I'm very fussy with my Delorean so I can't stop looking at the dents and stuff. But now I can get some ease of mind basically 😊

Why a shortage? Same as other older cars---overlap traffic accidents consume more of the LF fenders. I've found the same thing with 1950's American cars.
@deloreanmotorco9 ай бұрын
Contributing factor over the long term, sure. But it's known that when the factory closed (the source of the vast majority of the 3.5 million parts STILL in our inventory) the left fender was already in short supply. There were actually more in the 345 old DeLorean dealers parts inventories at that time than there were in the factory.

Yeah! Actually that's a very good point! It may be a combination of the two factors in reality.
