When you put the repeating component in you can hide in place the wall behind, so if you put both walls in in the correct place you can then hide the wall behind itself

Have you noticed when you break the view (view breaks) the annotation leaders get distorted or behave unpredictably?

Hi Paul, This is a good tutorial. As the wall type is set up as brick, block, 60mm insulation etc how come when you section it out its doesn't already shown with individual bricks, blocks, insulation etc. Seems a pain to have to manually add all these details.
@PaulVesey8 жыл бұрын
Revit does not put in the blocks by default. You have to add them as a repeating detail item in a section view. I think this was one of the ways that Autodesk kept the model size down. With Revit, and other systems, there is always a risk of over modelling.

I would like to know how or where do you save the new wall......as a library? and in such case where? So that you can use it as a new wall in a project.
@PaulVesey8 жыл бұрын
+Luis Corral Lacy Walls become part of the model. They are integral to the Revit .rvt file, so they do not behave like a family parts.; i.e they do not have their own file. If you find that you use the same wall type, or any component for that matter, create a template file. I have a few templates with some pre-loaded walls and family parts that I use, so I can bypass the 'load from file' process for a lot of the work that I do. Hope this helps..

+Paul Vesey Ok. Let's say I am a wall producer and I want some of my walls to be available to Revit users. Then I would have to make a catalog of these walls to be available. After I have made a new wall to be used in Revit to be copied for anyone, where do I find this special wall file?
@PaulVesey8 жыл бұрын
+Luis Corral Lacy I think I understand. Bad news is I am not aware of a clean way to do this; but there is a way.. The wall producer needs to create a single Revit (rvt) file that contains a few meters of each wall type. Then when users want to use one of those wall types, they have have to open the producers file, select and copy the wall they want (using Ctrl-C) and then paste into their working file using Ctrl-V. Not clean by any means, but it does work. Same method is used for railing also.. I would really like to hear of a better way....

Great tutorial. Quick question, I don't have an option for "Air" in my product materials library, closest I have is "Air Infiltration Barrier". Did you create this yourself and if so what are thermal properties you used? Thank you.
@PaulVesey7 жыл бұрын
Hi g1ng1e, The air material was in the Revit Library. It contains a bunch of thermal properties that are used to calculate the U value and such. It should be in the standard library, so you might have to import it using the material editor if it is not included in the Revit Template that you used to create the project

Can anybody explain to me how in these videos they find directly the piece they want and I must instead search all over the library for an hour only to discover that there isn't the piece I want?
@PaulVesey8 жыл бұрын
Practice... The folder structure in the library is quite consistent; after a while you begin to remember where things are. The trick is to go slowly and learn the structure; you will speed up over time. Also, the libs are different depending on geographical location. This may present problems when you see vids like mine versus your own lib configuration.

Hi. Where is this "Blockwork"? I cant find it in my libraries. And .... is there a way to see all the contents of a Revit library? I mean how can one search something when he isnt even sure if there is in the library and if he looks in the wright envelope of the library!!!!! Thank you.
@PaulVesey8 жыл бұрын
Hi Ioannis, You may need to check your installation. It is possible that the library files did not install. For some versions of Revit there is a two stage installation process. First you install Revit, then the Revit Content Libs. Check you installed programs in Control Panel; Revit Content should be listed. If it is there and you do not have the content, then run the Content Installer; you will need to select content packs. Another check is to look for a hidden folder on you machine called 'Program Data'. This is where Revit holds you library files. A fast way to check is to 'show hidden files and folders', then run a search for '*.rfa'. If they are installed there will be hundreds.. Good luck, Paul

Do you mean the repeating detail of the brick?
@ioanniszorgianos52998 жыл бұрын
Sorry. I meant "Blockwork". The "brickwork" it was in my revit. The "Blockwork" I cant find.
@PaulVesey8 жыл бұрын
OK, If it is not listed, and you have other repeating details, then you will have to create it. First load the detail component that you want from /detail items, and just place it in the drawing. Next create a repeating detail of some other component. Then you need to select that; click the 'Edit Type' and duplicate it with the name you want it to have. Then in the properties, select the detail item that you loaded into file earlier. For Block I suggest fixed distance, with 225mm spacing. Perhaps I should do a video on this..
