thank you. I figured the sound is important and is the weak point of my filming so far so i needed to up that game. I will put it through its pace but it 's a learning curve for me as opposed to just grab the camera or the phone as is 🤪

Congrats on your purchase. I really wish it had smartphone pass through charging

thank you, I will put it through its pace soon, a lot of information to digest and understand some settings though they say you can use it full automatic as such. bur first I need to mount it on my GoPro which is a bit more tricky than the regular camera. For the smartphone I haven't think of it yet, I have to figure out an easy way to mount and use it with smartphone that wouldn't be Frankenstein mounting. maybe the passthrough charging will come in version 2 if enough people ask for it

Hello, can I use the receiver of the pro as a mic, like on the “me”? Thank you, Frans

The receiver doesn't have a mic imbedded in it. As per the manual you would need to plug an external mic in the jack but it has to be a one with a TRRS connector. Then you'll have to record that, the receiver doesn't record per se but passes through the signal through to a recording device (computer, camera, phone) : then in that case you'll have to have a device that accommodates receiving sound through USB-C as your TRRS jack is already used by the external mic. I hope it makes sense. That's what I gathered . However the 2 transmitters can be used as mic/recording devices per se: they are self contained and have a 32 gb internal memory so you can just take one transmitter by itself and use it as a recorder in the field if you don't want to transmit anything. That's quite handy.

@@positiveattitudebymichusa Thank you Mich 😀. Pls let me explain my question and general considerations. For starters I am a run/gun/travel starting hobbyist in pension, so new in videoland. For now I have a go 1 and the following experience. Once I was talking at a distance with my girlfriend holding the cam and transmitter. Her voice was super loud and mine super soft (off course 😡) so unusable. Now the go ME comes into the picture as a scenario for conversations with 1 or 2 persons in the field and me holding the camera with receiver as a third mic. The gain control option comes in handy. But in a “Me” review I saw that at armslength, the transmitter sound was very soft. Getting closer to the mouth much louder. That gave me the idea that surrounding sound would also be poor. I like my recordings to be as natural as picked up by the human ear. So, including ambient sound. Given the transmitter limited range, I was thinking about a shotgun mic (on camera or cage) for extended range with the wireless receiver ( on cage or camera). I was thinking about the videomic pro+ for its recordtime, settings and (if memory serves me well, incl sound recording with follow zoom). (coming to think of it I could even use a lavalier plugged into the receiver to cover the distance to the shotgun, if needed.) If I understood your answer, correctly I can connect a shotgun to the go pro receiver as in passing through the shotgun signal to my cam. As for the pro transmitter(s) I am not sure if I can follow you. I assume a connexion over usb c is needed to connect the receiver to my cam. Pls take into consideration I am new in videoland and as such more of a ignorant enthousiast aiming at your expertise in the field of video recordings. Maybe you have practical reasons to tackle my shotgun ideas as unneeded and overcomplicated for purposes intended. If so, pls tackle. Thank you so far for your time and attention, greetings from the Netherlands, Frans 👍👋😀

thank you for your answer that I didn't see until a couple days ago : YT had put it in the "held for review /scam" section ! I am in no way expert regarding sound. I am a little better at video because I have been filming for 3 or 4 years and you improve with practice. I just bought this Rode Wireless Pro to improve the sound in my videos but let me tell you that the learning curve is steep ! My first use in the field last week has been a semi-fiasco, I'll make a video about that if it can help other people avoid my mistakes and some mishaps behind my control (first I started to lose the transmitter in the parking lot, not having started my hike yet ! due to not so good magnets that Rode supplies. More to come about that. Then for what I understand on the Wireless Pro model you can assign each transmitter to a channel, left and right : one transmitter on the left and one transmitter on the right that makes it easier to adjust in post production as 2 separate audio files. That would solve your problem of too soft or too loud. Also you can save directly on the transmitter in addition to the transmitted sound and that local sound is in 32 float a format that apparently allows recovery for too low or too loud and even avoids too loud. I encourage you to go on Rode website and download the Wireless Pro pdf manual (it's free and available to all, no need to own the product : I actually downloaded it before having the product to see what could be achieved and what setting could be set) : there you can see all the options that product offers and see if they are suitable for you. That's where you'll see the recording on left and right channels separately instead of merge 2 channels which is the default option. Also that's where they explain about the 32 float. But sound is not easy specially when you start and come from a non sound background. Video (the image part of video ) was a bit easier for me because I am a photographer and have been taking photos since my teenage years so that background helped a lot. But sound I was and still am clueless on certain aspects. We keep learning with trial and errors. I try to make videos of my errors or misunderstanding to help others ! For example when I went all gung-ho with the ND filters for my GoPro ! Lesson learned and I made a video about it ! Fortunately it's digital and we can erase when stuff are not usable. If it's an important or unique recording I would use back up recording at least even with a simple phone to have something just in case ! Fortunately for me it's just my hikes in my local parks so if I mess up too much I can go back and film again. Good luck with your sound set up but really go download the pdf of the Rode mics and see if their specs can fit your needs. And also keep asking questions and make trial and errors ! Hopefully soon I can use this mic system as a routine (I am not there yet and sometimes if I am rushed I don't even want to bother ) Cheers !
