I do think the Milgauss looks pretty awesome to be frankly honest. I didn't know about the lightning bolt orange hand. As you said, Rolex doesn't like to go outside the box very much but this adds a cool "easter egg"

It makes no sense to protect the ceramic bezel. I think the reason is, the gold models can now be upgraded to a ceramic insert surrounded by a gold frame.

Having a clear caseback is like your buddy seeing your new ride and asking you to pop the hood. In all reality we don't care what it looks like (especially the new mercedes amg's and such that the entire engine bay is covered in plastic shrouding - I prefer the old skool being able to see the mechanics) just like on watches with clear case back. Cool to pop it off the wrist and let a buddy look at it. Soon as he flips it over, it is a wow moment!

I like some of the new watches released this year, my favourites being the full gold jubilee GMT and the new 1908. This year, along with last years three price rises I feel Rolex is getting honest and saying first and foremost we are now a luxury rather than tool watch brand which is of course what they have been for a few years. now we have better decorated movements befitting the price hikes and open casebacks to show them off. lets leave the higher end true tool watches to the likes of Sinn now. I think the 1908 deserves to sell well but sadly the backward thinking present rolex owners still laughingly think they own serious sports watches. This is a turning point now. I wonder where those "serious" Rolex owners will go
