Wow the steering is honestly not what I expected that's insanely well setup, based off my past research having the sweeper arm in front of the c-hubs helps tremendously with high angle lock out, very very very well thought out build redcat really did something incredible with this, great review as always 🤘🤘

It’s definitely a neat little drift rig. I got back into rc around 2014/2015 and my first ever crawler was a Redcat everest 16, shortly followed by an Everest 10. It was on then, and now I have legit 50+ rc’s! But it’s cool to see how far Redcat has come, and how cool the stuff is that they’ve been releasing.

It's interesting to see Redcat stepping up to the rwd drift game. It will be interesting to see how they drive compared to the more established brands and if they can deliver a good after-market hop up line. Also, the other brands seem available worldwide. But here in the UK, it's hard to get hold of red cat stock. So, I probably won't get to try one.😭 looking forward to see how the chassis will perform with a more traditional drift electronics package. 120amp esc, 10.5t/13.5t motor, reve d servo and high end gyro would be good to see. 👍

Very nice overview. I’m not familiar with rc drift cars. What is the purpose of having the motor raised up vs on the chassis? Is it to accommodate the battery space?

It is all about weight transfer. With driving on a smooth surface - with slick tires, the car does not generate a lot of cornering force. So raising the COG can help with weight transfer.

That seems to be the AGFRC GY01 V3, which is all the gyro anyone would every need. Likely an AGFRC programable servo too, which means it's probably tunable to enable running at 100% gain in normal mode.

I have a question though that I can't find the answer to anywhere, in the sticker bag there is what looks like a small 3-pin connector on a string, there's also a "pick" tool attached to it. The RDS that the store has in stock - is it the kit instead of the RTR (ready to run)? For most folks - it is smarter to start with a RTR (either the Redcat, Yokomo, or MST) and then modify the car from there.

Great! Glad you have it coming. You run the gyro as high as possible, but avoiding gyro wobble. Yes, you can fit many different bodies on it.

When Redcat Rds arrived I want to install that part since they told me that it is delicate and breaks easily.

Hello again, do you think the Redcat RDS is worth buying? I just want it to entertain myself, nothing professional. I only run on fine pavement and at my job which is polished floor. Are the electronic parts durable? I see problems with the servo in some forums and reviews. Another question is it difficult to drive? I see that it has Gyro but I still sometimes see sudden movements and turns and it gets out of control. I am used to only using Rc awd(4WD) for drifting.

I just tried driving my RDS for the first time today in the garage, I have a very smooth polished concrete and the front is pushing really hard. What tires should I try for a smoother concrete do you think? Also, I've noticed that when I turn the servo is fast if I turn and then turn the other way, but if I turn and just let go of the wheel, the tires are VERY slow to return to center. What can cause this?

1) slow return of steering. This is a feature of the gyro. It helps reduce gyro wobble. It is a good thing, you don't want to change this. 2) pushing. Very common for new driver. Nothing to change on the car for this. No new tires needed. These cars will NOT turn unless the rear wheels are spinning. Keep driving, keep practicing!!!

@@RoadsideRC Yes, I got the FlySky GT3C you recommended in one of your other videos :) I installed it, binded the receiver and set the endpoints and recalibrated the ESC throttle and steering as you showed us how to. However, the steering is still acting weird, I'm not sure if I got a defective gyro or servo but it's not acting correctly :( . Also, thank you for the advice on the steering push, I have been practicing and am starting to get better. Sorry for all the noob questions. I'm 44 now and have been out of RC for over 20 years, and your videos sparked that fire again. It's a bit overwhelming for me so I really do appreciate your help brother! I also have a Futaba GYD-470 and that budget steering servo and motor and ESC that you recommended in one of your other videos to throw in it later, but I'm trying to do one thing at a time as you recommended so that I can see the difference in the upgrades. I also have a Futaba T4PM :) I have 12 RC cars, this is just my first 2WD drift car :) The reason I'm using the FlySky instead of the Futaba on this is because I'm trying to get it dialed in for my Nephew to drift with me, I bought myself a Yokomo SD 2.0 to use with my T4PM but the Reve-D servo was on backorder for 2 months, I receive that tomorrow. Also, I hadn't even thought about getting a crawler and then I saw your RidgeRock video and bought 4 of them..... now the whole Fam has them! :)

@vroish5942 Sometimes this happens when (1) the car is off the ground - it changes the geometry. Shouldn't do it when sitting on the suspension. Or (2) when the steering is allowed to travel too far.
