Happy with their announcement of the new 150watt inverter and solar charger. They need an 18v battery bank/inverter like the 40v. Really hoping Ryobi stops with all the little tools and gets into some more useful items. Love their OPE offerings

Holy Shit Mon! Put on your Chaps! And that is not how it''s done at all! Your Front Cut should be from the Top and Bottom Meeting at one point, with the Cut coming up from the Bottom longer and with less of an angle, than you cut straight in from the back! But its been some years since I worked for a Crane Logging - Regular Tree Work Company, and I forget exactly, somehow! exactly where you cut to from the back, to where the two angles meet on the front (but not all the way to it, you use wedges, and give it a little bang from the safest place you can stand from the side as you back away quickly), or below it and cut towards x amount down into the bottom less angled and longer cut (or above it, I'll figure it out on something small). The reason that is done, because it leaves a shelf on the back half of the stump that is x amount higher and protects some from kick back! And also helps it fall more the way you want! But again, put your chaps on, they can cost $50 on Ebay! And you should not be helping to sponsor chain sawing without chaps, monkey see, monkey do! They really do stop a Chainsaw Dead! Now I know those things ain't got the Kick Back like a True Professional Saw and that also goes for most Gas Powered Saws that don't say contact us for a price you'll shit your pants at hearing! But you always need you chaps on! Just don't get a Giant Commercial Pair, get something a little cheaper and thinner, and not as Hot!

NB: When doing horizontal cuts (your final release cut should have been horizontal BTW), the best way to do it is with the bar down rather than up. That's why the front handle wraps around to the left side of the saw. You grab the front handle by the left-side part of it for horizontal cuts.

I got one of these about 5 months ago and I've used it a lot on my property. I've been clearing fallen trees and dropping dead standers. I am very impressed with this tool. It has enough power that I'll be getting a mill for it as well. If you don't really torque down the cap the bar oil will leak. The 5a battery lasts for about 4 hours and I've found that it only takes about 20-30 min to recharge the battery. I am well pleased with this tool and with a solar generator and a quart of bar oil I can cut for days without the worry or mess of mixing fuel.

I just bought this exact saw two weeks ago and it rips. I used it to cut 10 railroad ties for my landscaping in my back yard. I look forward to the announcement on Thursday I hope to see a 40 volt HP dethatcher with spring tines that will not damage sprinklers. I would also like to see a super powerful 40 volt wet dry shop style vacuum.

I put an 18" bar on my 18 volt Ryobi brushless saw. Great cutting on 18" pine, struggles on aged 12" white oak, but got the job done on both.

Is the new one any better somehow? Mine eats batteries for lunch and overheats them if I don't change it every cut. Other than that I love it so far once I got a better chain on it.

Whoa yeah we don’t have that problem with ours . We cut for hours and the batteries last forever, really cold weather is the only time we have short battery life but we never over heat

@@SolelyRyobi well mine is the original 18" saw. Thought it is brushless too but not sure. It just puts a ton of draw on the battery. If I cut a log twice that's 18" wide then the battery is already getting warm to the touch which means it must be really warm inside. It cuts awesome though. I love how it cuts and all but wish the batteries held up better without getting so hot. I feel like for what the batteries cost they should have a lot better way to dissipate heat. They aren't cheap by any means. My 4 ah been holding up as good or better than the 5 ah one I have too. Roby makes a lot of awesome stuff but they have increased the price enough it's time to work on the battery heat problems in both the 18 and 40v models. I have about six 40v batteries and probably 12 or so 18 and they all have trouble with heat with high draw stuff. Ego appears to have better battery cooling but I already have Ryobi stuff so just wish they'd invest more in the battery quality. They aren't total junk by any means but they can do better. There's literally no way for heat to escape the things if you look at it

Those connectors usually touch a metal plate base inside the battery dock on certain hp tools

I have seen 40V-6Ah batteries that have the same dimensions as the 4 and 5Ah... but they dont have the 2 extra pins that the larger 6Ah and 7.5Ah batteries that come with the mower..

You are right I am going to complain about the blade. Ha ha. It's a bar and chain, just like the bottle of chain and bar oil. I like the case because of other videos that shows the oil leakage and water leak if is outside it will stay in the case below the saw not leaking on the floor.

You are the only person I have even seen who gets excited over cheap plastic bucking teeth (which you called a fork.) Any decent chain saw would have substantial metal teeth. I'm NOT excited about those teeth on my own Ryobi 40V which I am about to post a review about on my channel. I don't work for Ryobi and don't have every single Ryobi tool ever made hanging on my shop walls. Thus my review is unbiased and made by someone who understands chain saws, which clearly you don't. You chainsaw knowledge is well below average, which makes me have less faith in your opinion about the saw. For example, you state pulling the chain brake back toward you engages the brake. That EXACTLY OPPOSITE of what actually happens. Pushing the chain brake FORWARD engages the brake which locks out the chain from turning. Thus pulling the chain brake back toward you disengages the chain brake. You said it backwards your entire video. Watching someone who doesn't understand a product try to convince people of its merits and worth is like watching you demonstrate a guitar when you have no idea how to play one. Watching you try to fell a tree was even worse. Clearly you have no idea of the property way to drop a tree, Others have posted to tell you what you did wrong so I will skip that, except to say it was the worst example of how to cut down a tree I have ever seen. In fact the angled cut you made at the end was one that can backfire and cause the tree to snap and slide downwards. It's very unsafe, as was wearing tennis shoes, no eye protection, or any other type of safety equipment. You would probably demonstrate how to ride a motorcycle wearing the exact same gear. There's nothing truly bad about the chainsaw, although it does have limits and quirks. But while 143 people liked your review, I am going to be the one who dislikes it and rates it poorly. Sorry, but this video doesn't give solid instructions and shows more that is wrong than what is right. It looks exactly like what it is...A commercial touting Ryobi products.

I don't wish to be as critical as you but am unhappy there was no mention of how the chain brake is designed to engage in a kickback situation. Kickbacks are very dangerous if one doesn't know how they occur.
