One example that Super bought up in his video regarding the speed of the game was how fast the throw kameo for Kano is now as opposed to the stress test where he’d take forever to leave the screen. I’m more than sure they’ll work on the dashing.

When people complain about roster choices in MK, I think it shows what a great job Netherrealm has done in creating a varied cast of characters with wide appeal. This stream, case in point: Max is completely unenthused about Johnny, saying he's basically just a regular guy in an otherwise fantastical setting. Whereas Johnny is a favourite of mine for almost the exact same reason. Really looking forward to how the rest of the roster shapes up.

ya i really dig it! i love the fact that the character roster is always a surprise because you never know who is gonna make it. and i think it also helps them to write a much more compelling story then other games because it allows them to keep characters growing and changing and introduce new characters instead of people (only an example, i love the following characters im gonna mention) like Paul Phoenix who's story essentially hit a comedic road block after tekken 4 and hasnt really been an impact on the main story or Blanka who hasnt done anything new story wise until SF6 and even then, i find his story impact is very minimal

I can’t believe how cracked Johnny looks. His infinite EX specials ability plus the fact he can break grabs makes for some terrifying potential. I wouldn’t be shocked to see that get nerfed when the game releases lmao

At the same time having no zoning at all could be really really rough depending on how the game ends up playing in the neutral. Obviously a game like this with so much insane shit going on, character unique mechanics and the infinite variance of char/kameo combinations is pretty much impossible to truly balance super well but while I also got scared seeing all his busted looking shit, I'm not sold on him being OP yet. Worth noting in that fight he did a 39% combo and while I'm certain it's not optimal, they showed Scorpion do 36% no kameo no meter midscreen lol. The infinite specials don't seem like they're as OP for damage as you might think. Dude's barely outdamaging no resource midscreens from high damage characters.

To me it looks more like a gimmick, I don't know how useful either of those functions will be in practice. The hype meter looks very slow to charge and quick to discharge, we've only seen it in more ideal scenarios where the mechanic is meant to shine. In a normal online match I imagine going for those taunts is just going to be a death sentence more often than not. The throw disable also has a really short timer and because throws tend to be more useful for pressure and mix-ups it doesn't seem like something that's going to be all that useful unless you're on the defensive, in which case you'd rather have your bar for breaker or wake up.

Im glad that Johnny doesn’t have powers in MK1. Not because I don’t like them, but because the games (at least the most recent timeline) always skip over his character development after receiving his powers. His MK9 ending showed him being trained with his powers and I feel like that should actually be apart of the main story.

The hype meter is a smart decision if you gave Johnny a Fatal Blow only on a counter. He will not reach high damage like other characters because they can link a fatal blow. But with the hype meter he can compensate this. JC seems like a lot of fun.

I like that the kameo characters are included in the visuals so much. I'd be sick if they help pick up fallen players between rounds. Even cooler if they were unique. Like just scoops a player on their feet or Goro just yell "Get up and fight!" Would be sick

@@CJ_1995_ idk, it seems like variation is more so picking a type of utility that you need for a fight. It seems like all characters can just do more combos now without even the need for a cameo. But if u want to do even more combos, you can add a cameo that will extend your combos. But if you feel like you your character will need more mobility then choose the latter.

If there's one thing I can say about this game, it's the fact that I'm excited to play as characters that I have never cared for in previous mk games. I've never liked either Johnny Cage or Liu Kang, but the changes in MK1 has me hypedntonplay as them. I can't wait to see what changes they've made to other classic MK characters.

Looks like that spear sweep is a redesign of his old leg takedown special. Like it’s basically the same hitbox and effect but this way he can stay further away instead of being an attack that makes him commit to close combat while not being a combo starter. It’s a creative way to make it more consistent with his kit.

I guess johnny cage being an anti zoner makes sense because it was his biggest weakness in mk9-11 but his pressure without a projectile is going to suffer unfortunately.

He doesn't seem like he counters zoners at all. Like all he has is the dash in thing but it's interuptable by hit so he'll just dash into projectiles and get launched out of it into a combo. Up close he's good but he doesn't have a way to stop them just leaving, he doesn't have a counter to projectiles and his throw-hate isn't that relevant to a lot of zoners. He just hates zoning himself, I guess, and likes to be rushing down.
