Farmers have to be mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, Agricultural engineers, computer scientists, chemical experts, and fathers, brothers and sons. Some politicians think all they do is dig a hole and put in a seed and add water. Sad isn't it. God Bless farmers. Great work on the video Eric! We know about cover cropping then no till. Thanks Eric great video.

My uncle (broiler farming) is actually an ex-concreter and brick layer. But he also is a fantastic carpenter, boiler maker, plumber and machine operator. I learnt how to do plumbing by watching him when I was 8 years old. The only thing he doesn't do on his farm is electrical work due to the risk and insurance.

Much respect for farmers that refer to a 40 yr old tractor as an “upgrade”. Common sense ain’t common any more
@AboveSomething4 жыл бұрын
funny story.. look up "right to repair" and "John Deere" and you'll find plenty of stories of farmers in (if i remember correctly) Nebraska who are buying up all the old JD tractors because you basically can't repair newer models by yourself anymore so the older ones are getting more expensive lol

Just a safety note- I worked 35 years i power plant heavy maint. .Whenblocking up heavy equip.such as the front end of the new holand tractor,The blocking shold be crossed every piece of blocking should be set another direction or crossed. so if the tractor is bumped it will be less likely to fall over. just a hint on safty.

@Burner123 You should pay more attention to what he is saying. Rather than how he said it. My Grandad mixed his German and English when he told you something. So you had to pay attention. But every word he ever spoke was made of gold.

@Burner123 My point was grammar is not a direct correlation to competence. Competent people usually just hire someone to correct their spelling and grammar. Now I will admit. I have met a few who were competent in both. Just not many.

I use winter rye the same way to keep the garden intact over the winter. Instead of chopping it for cows though, I turn it into the soil as it breaks down quickly to get the crops off to a quick start. It keeps nutrients from running away over the winter months and adds organic matter to keep the soil producing.

First time watching. Awesome to see a ton of farming content on KZbin lately. I grew up on a small 88 acre farm. Unfortunately it was too hard for the family to handle in the early 2000s and we no longer farm it. So I get to relive my childhood by watching farming videos 😁 also love the old tractor. I grew up running a super C farmall as soon as I could reach the pedals my grandpa had me out plowing fields.

alison webster: Thank You for comment. Sole is meant for duel application- yes, for our spirit- but also, for the sole of our feet- one of hardest parts of our body and before machines-farming was done on foot- even w/ animals. Plow had to be steered on foot while mule or ox or horse pulled! When I was young, old timers ( men born late 1880’s and 90’s) would comment that I had a good base- meaning big, wide feet- for farming, good soles‼️

ANNOYING . No matter what you have to hear it for approx 5-10sec every time you push the button. I'll trade ya tractors . I'd even throw in a case of Mt. Dew . 😉🤣😂 But for reals Eric ...
