This is how we should have been doing 'anime-inspired' western cartoons this whole time. It's not how it's drawn; it's how it moves and why. Save the animation for where it's needed, keep it cheap and exaggerated, and don't worry about whether the character designs look like they're sufficiently Nippon-esque. Most of all, don't assume you have to be on one side of the kids-adults divide. You can be mature while still being safe. We finally have it - an American shonen cartoon.

This EPIC episode is one introduction that won't be forgotten. The art, the animation, the sound effect, the voice acting, and the story of an underdog nobody taking on the biggest bullies. Not to mention the exaggerated fights that take place. After all i'm sure most of the characters are inspired by Dragon Ball, Street Fighter, One Punch Man, JoJo, and Doronjo. Just found out about this show. Im so sad its on adult swim, im afraid it might do poorly because adults tend to only think cartoons are only ok for adults if they're overly crude or cynical. I feel like a lot of adults will not give this show a chance.

Nah. That Superman cartoon seemed to do well. Rick & Morty may be crude but it was popular when it started, it had intelligent humor as well as crude. I'm just not sure about this cartoon because it looks really more like a Cartoon Network suitable one. Regular Show is still beloved by adults as well. I'm sure this cartoon might do well, but I'm turned away from it because it definitely seems way more like a child oriented cartoon. Something a little on the more mature side, but not enough to be adult.

I love the style, I love the anime inspirations, and I LOVE the concept, but goddamn, the animation outside of the fights is painful. It’s tweening and pose to pose with no in-betweens. Normally that would be a stylistic choice, but it honestly looks like it’s a budget problem. I really hope this debut episode takes tf off and we can get a solid budget running for this, because it deserves better than 2010 flash animation.
