Hey mike. For the McCammon series. Corbett series. Kind of stand alone books but they do follow a chronologal order so I wouldn’t jump around really. The first one speak the night bird is very much an origin (of his career) even a prequel may accurate. Corbett comes into his own as the series progresses but it is very fantastic as a read and as a audible.

So damn happy you're going to attempt Arthurian tales by Giles Kristian! I really think you'll love this one, especially Lancelot! :) I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Shattered Sand... I read the first book and instantly lost interest in the series. I hope you will have better luck with it. And Matthew Corbett is on my list of books to read as soon as I can first. I LOVE the two books I read from McCammon so far! :) Fingerscrossed you'll love Book of the Ancestor. As you know, I'm not a fan of Broken Empire trilogy. And I felt mixed (mostly positive) about his Red Queen's War trilogy. But Book of the Ancestor is so good! Enjoy, Mike!

My first priority for the new year is a reread of The Dark Tower. I've read We Are the Dead, so I have the second book coming up really soon in the new year. I've also got Howling Dark, The Terror, and Cephrael's Hands, which I was supposed to read this year, but I pushed it back. And I'm finally going to finish The Faithful and the Fallen series, with Wrath coming probably in the first quarter of next year.

Good luck with Malazan. I think you were smart to take a break. I didn't. I powered through and ended up hate reading the last 3 books and I very much regret it now. However one bonus was I discovered The Black Company afterwards and it ended up being the best part of the military fantasy of Malazan minus the stuff I didn't care for. I've only read the first three books, but they became three of my favorite books I read all year.

I'm hoping to read Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn next year. Maybe continue on with First Law, I never did start Red Country and it's been a few years. The Expanse is on my list, maybe get some Elric in there as well as Codex Alera. Memoirs of Lady Trent looks fun and short, but all in all I'll see what I end up reading. Been in a bit of a slump since the pandemic started and I haven't quite bounced back. Life gets in the way as well, what with adult responsibilities.

Beaulieu: bow-lee-uh The Matthew Corbett novels are southern colonial historical crime fiction/adventure. There is piracy in some, but Matthew starts as a coming of age clerk to a magistrate then you follow his career as it evolves (slowly, there’s a short gap of 1-2 years between the stories). Awesome books, very colourful characters and all the great McCammon writing and plot twists. I did my “ongoing or on the TBR pile series” spreadsheet a while ago and I’ve officially reached 100, so I decided to put myself on a full “new series” ban for the first half of 2023. Anything I start needs to be from the TBR (I have several I even own all books from on there… no excuse). The first one of those will be Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, that technically I’ll start at the end of next month, not in 2023. Enjoy The Expanse. I really had a lot of fun with the final arc. After putting it off for a year (subconsciously didn’t want it to end, I guess) I finally read the “epilogue” novella last week. Fitting end to a great epic. Can’t wait for their next series (not release window or title announced yet), set in a very distant future in what they describe as a Frank Herbert inspired universe.

Next year for me is about reading mostly owned books. At last count, I have about 200 books I own that I haven't read and they're all books or series that I really want to read. So I'm going to try to make sure I at least try the oldest ones I have in the house first, and "shop from my shelves" instead of FOMOing new books, if possible. Because of this, I've culled down Booktube to just the homies who read very similar stuff to me and have taken myself off reddit so I won't be tempted to scroll through recommendations.

Mike I’d really love it if you could add the names of books you mention in discussion in a text on screen - you know you speak quickly but I often say hmm that’s interesting and can’t translate what you say … or maybe in the episode review I like INK cause I can go to the store with the list to buy or library to check out ❤️❤️ love your channel

So happy you will try to finish the Witcher books, you will not regret it. Baptism of Fire is the best of the series and the most humorous. The Tower of the Swallow has the most action! Have the lowest expectations for the finale , Lady of the Lake. My advice is to just skip it and instead read the prequel, a Season of Storms. The best companion to the Witcher books is the podcast ETL Witcher Book Club.

Hi Mike. How are you doing? Those books and series sound really good. Just recently, I started listening to the Scottish Prisoner by Diana Gabaldon, which is the fourth book in the Lord John Grey series, which is a spinoff series of the Outlander universe. It focuses on the perspective of Lord John and Jamie. Also, last night, I had a mood change and so I started listening to the Origins of the Wheel of Time, which has been awesome so far. I want to finish reading while listening to the A Certain Magical Index light novel Old Testament series next year. I could not take anymore of the Witcher, because of the author's viewpoint on women.

This will be my third venture into that kind of story. My first is the Midnight Rose and the Italian Girl by Lucinda Riley. Both of those are the type where you start out in the present day and then the narrator takes you back in time to tell you and her child about her life and how they came to be. I love those kinds of stories.

Well, I feel like I've booked December and it hasn't even happened yet. So my two goals that I haven't achieved or avoided will probably move to January. I need to start lordship and finish Dark Tower. I think I'm just feeling anxious about the last Tower since the ending seems so polarizing. But this is probably one of the few times that the Hobb is the shorter book. Happy Holidays.

I won't get through all of them, since yet to try and don't think every book is readily available, but because of Michael K. Vaughan's channel will be trying what sounds like a pulpy violent western series called Edge. If I have the time will actually start it next week bought the first book for my Kindle if I find reading time on my out of town vacation. Otherwise as far as other series goes will continue the already started stuff like the Hannibal Lecter stuff, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, John Norman's Gor, Rex Miller's Chaingang, and Peter Straub's Blue Rose trilogy. Along with hope's of a Dark Tower reread (so I can finally read Keyhole which been saving for this reread) and start a reread of what Dresden File's book I have and catch up.

Mike, taking the deep plunge down the Elderlings rabbit hole now. I was on the fence about Mrs. Hobb after the Far seer trilogy myself. My apprehension was gone after live ships and Tawny man trilogy. Hobb is one of the best authors, in any genre. Even Rain Wilds is under appreciated imo.
