thats not how it is. a newbie is placed on probation (insurance reasons) earns his keep tending to the silage heap and all equipment related is maintained by you as well. make deliveries (efficient way to learn the area and keep heads up on grain prices) do all that and you just might Earn some seat time come planting time (no promises..just like IRL) Field dressers are Pro's...efficient & effective. top wage earners on the farm, and are great equipment operator/mechanics. who don't mind working long hours-and are loyal to the the Farm. no geek off the streets gets a seat in the good equipment...you earn it.
