Here is another video from one of our fossil hunts, make sure to stick around to the end of the video to see the special fossil at the end! This is an insight into the past, what life was like 180 Million Years Ago even before many of the most famous land-dwelling Dinosaurs ever existed.

Nice fossil hunt guys. Your discipline is well demonstrated, as I would find it difficult to leave the beach when its been such a rich day of finds. I would likely be dragged out to sea when the tides came in! Thanks for being safe, so you can bring us more of these epic experiences!

Love watching your vids! Some amazing finds! I travel up from london to Yorkshire regularly for a fossil hunt, I don't have too much luck as I'm very new to it and to call myself an amature hunter would be an overstatement! Lol. Would love to see you guy's up there one weekend to get some advice and pro knowledge from you! Maybe one day our paths will meet! Fingers crossed 🤞. Keep up the great work guy's and keep these vids coming!

It's the way the sediment falls around the dead animal. If there wasn't anything there it would be flat shale. Shale takes a long time to form in thin layers. There is a really good video on how fossils form on KZbin. It compacts different when something is added to sediment.
@paulstan9828

The plant & animal fossil concretions we find here in the U.S.A are formed when the organic matter is quickly covered with mud or silt and begins to decompose in an oxygen-free anaerobic environment. This supposedly changes the chemistry surrounding the plant or animal and that is why it fossilizes in a nodule rather than the surrounding flaky shale. I suspect this fossilization process is likely the same at the Yorkshire coast.
