I've been shore fishing in Jax for a while now. I've been wanting to get on the water, just picked up a 14' malibu kayak last week. Found your channel this week. it's got me pumped to get out there and fish. Thank you, fellow Asian fisherman, for your content!

I really enjoy your videos! Super high quality(great B-roll) and very informative. After watching I always get excited for the weekend to go fishing on my boat. Thanks for the time stamps!! By the way, I’ve never had a lot a luck with hard bait, and even a lot other fishing KZbinrs seem to have a hard time with them as well. They’re fun to buy, but not as good, at least for me, as the soft plastics.
@VISUAL-LY Жыл бұрын
I’ll choose soft plastic over the hard ones any day. I think if there’s trout around you can do good with them, other than that🤷♂️ How often does someone catch a flounder on a hard bait, right? Lol But thanks for the nice comments! Go get them this weekend!💪🎣

I remember when the tarpon came to Mill Cove before the construction of the Dames Point bridge. Since then the Cove has become really skinny water. Would not advise fishing low tide.
@VISUAL-LY Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, several yeah ago, the first boat I ever owned on the first day I used it, I took it to the cove. And not knowing how shallow low tide was out there, I ran aground and my motor died. I was past the bridge and launched at Lonnie. I had to use my trolling motor all the way back to the ramp, against the tide. Luckily I made it as it got dark😅
@MHFROX Жыл бұрын
lol I have a Mill Cove story about the time my buddy & I spent the night in the Cove waiting for the tide to rise, but I won't elaborate. lol This was in my teen years, early 70's.

lol Careful whatcha wish for! Around midnight we were heading home from downtown. (Ramoth Dr just past Clapboard Crk/Palms). It was dark; Dames Pt Br was still years away and Blount Island was just beginning to develop, so there were no 'landmark' lights. We'd partied a little. So, I made the turn too soon. I cut into the Cove just past Goat Island instead of staying in the channel swinging wide around the Cove. I hit Dad up on VHF to let him know the sitch. Fortunately, the tide was in-bound and we were floating within a couple hours and I tip-toed back out to the channel and headed back to the home dock with no further 'issues'. (We were in our 1970 24' Stamas 'Clearwater', I/O, cuddy, V-bunks fwd...heavy boat not suitable to go blasting into Mill Cove in the middle o the night with a buzzed teenager at the helm!) lol Told ya!

I was riding my boat out there in mill cove just past the dames point right where those towers are and there is a huge sandbar right in the middle of the river where it's like 5 inches deep at low tide 🤦

@@matthewbruce5682 my first trip in the cove was a disaster. I was solo, and after hitting that sand bar, my motor sucked up too much sand/mud and stopped peeing. @VISUAL-LY Жыл бұрын
Definitely! I actually lived in Ft. Lauderdale and Kendall for several years back when I was in school. But out of Yulee and Oakleaf, you'll have better access to fishing in Yulee. It's a small town but the Nassau river runs right through Yulee and Fernandina, which is directly east. You'll catch all kinds of fish in the nassau river and all of its tributaries/feeder creeks. Good luck with the move!

Thank you! It was starting to be low tide and if I didn’t get out of there, may have been stuck in the mud. So I’d say 2-3ft or little more around high tide, and almost not navigable at low, depending on the moon phase.
