My little senior rescue has those exact same Eyebrows of Great Concern, lol. The first six months I had her, she mostly just hid in the corner of my living room. Over time, she veeery slowly shifted from coming out periodically to let me pet her before retreating again to her corner, to actually wanting to be out near me all the time. It's so wonderful to see her blossom from a dog a lot like Honey to a full-blown goofball!! Honey will get there too!!

Thank you for the update, I tried to check out the link he provided and it basically just did a play-by-play of everything he said in the video with no update, and there were so many ads on the mobile site I couldn't even see full screengrabs of her from this video... I'm so glad to hear her People found her, I was about ready to hop in my car and drive to wherever this shelter is and get her myself (that's why I even clicked the link in the first place) 🥹

I just adopted a senior black shepherd last Friday, 1 day before her euthanization. She was very similar temper. She had been in the shelter since 11/15/2023. They had her as reactive to other dogs. I took a chance on her and she is such an amazing, smart and loving dog and gets along with my other dog wonderfully so far. Thanks for this video, I pray it encourages a massive softening of hearts for viewers to go adopt.

I spent part of my early childhood with a male black shepherd. He was called Wolf. Very loyal but he did chase and bite sheep (he lived on a sheep and poultry farm) if left unsupervised! I do understand why some people would think black GSDs are sinister but they should make an effort to look beyond appearances.

When he said “this is bad” referring to her being there for 10 days, I noticed she responded with a fearful look. I am guessing she was told she was “bad” often. She is such a good dog. All dogs are good dogs. It’s the humans that are bad!

@Snipergoat1

It might also be the infection when he is saying bad. A Medium tone that drowns lower towards the end is a anger sound. She may or may not understand the word but you can bet she knows the tones. Those are instinctive (listen to a growl, it has a similar slow drop. They respond well to happy sounds (high and jump up towards the end, almost sing songy like you are talking to a kid.) Notice when he's trying to enthuse her he goes to it.

@@liquidminds That's reductive. Dogs don't care what you call them, it's just a string of meaningless sounds to them, so I'd personally have no problem naming a dog "Plague" or "Terror" or anything like that, it would actually be funny to have a dog with a name like that be an actual bundle of love and joy. Plus "Venom" can be a pop culture reference, the movie came out before that dog was born. I could name a dog "Venom" - although I'm pretty sure they'd get nicknamed "Venven" pretty soon.

When I was young, we found a German shepherd hiding under a bush in my Grandmothers yard. My Dad visited the dog for days, and just fed her. He finally was able to get her out of the bush and brought her home. After a few weeks she finally warmed up to the family. She was the best dog we ever had. I see the same thing in Honey. If I lived close to California I would get her in a heartbeat. With the right care and love, she will be someone’s best dog.

I spent 5 years as a county animal control officer in one of the largest and most affluent counties in California. While there was lots of satisfaction, the frustration and anger that much of the work engendered was really hard to tolerate. I am watching lots of suspicion and way too many fear responses from this dog. That, along with almost no response to the praise tells me way too much about her former owners; as in people who have no business owning a dog. Project dogs like this girl are demanding but always worth the effort. She just really needs a home where she can trade her affection for affection in return. Most dogs deserve far more than they get.

Nobody be discouraged by this behavior if you get a dog acting like this. My shepherd from the shelter acted like this for a month but he found his favorite rocking chair and laid in it by my bed and slowly started opening up. Now the dog is the most playful and talkative dog I’ve ever seen. Hes a literally 100 pound baby who submits to the little 20 lb daushand because he knew the other dog was here first. It’s so sweet to watch. But just dont be discourage by this behavior and make it why you never get that kind of dog

The whole sitting process and just letting her get comfy reminded me of my granddad and his dog, Cuddles. Cuddles was abandoned in the woods about eight miles from the nearest town, out where my granddad lived. He'd put a bowl of food out on the porch and sit with him and talk to him, and after a few days Cuddles would hang out on the porch with him, which then progressed to letting my granddad pet him. After a week, he was able to convince Cuddles to come inside. Cuddles was still pretty iffy on hanging out with a human, so he stayed in the entryway for a week, but eventually warmed up to my granddad and started roaming around the house. They had 10 wonderful years together. My granddad named him Cuddles because, according to him, "he looked like he needed a cuddle and a hug". Honey has the same energy.

In the 1960s my family owned 60 acres in the country in a mid-Atlantic state. The humane society had a very small shelter a couple of miles away and my mother got to know some of the people there. A beautiful, small, female GSD came into the shelter but they had no room and my mother brought her home to foster her. As a child on a farm, we took care of the animals but I was informed that the GSD was 'vicious' and that care was needed when feeding, etc. The real story was that she came from a home where a couple had one child, a son, who was beating the dog and the dog eventually began to respond aggressively to the son, and began to dislike male humans. That dog became part of our family, became a strong protector of my younger sibling, and we loved her to the end of her life. It seems that Honey may not have been treated well, likely didn't received the positive love and care she should have, and only needs a good person to turn her around. I hope she finds that home!

After adopting I changed her name to Juno and right away it was as if that has been her name since forever. She’s extremely loyal, kind and loving. Honey really reminds me of Juno and I hope she’ll soon find the loving home she deserves as well! ❤

As a child my parents explained this concept to us every time we got a new pet and I truly believe they were proud of their names- Star, Storm, Diamond, Leo. And I've experienced the same thing as a kindergarten teacher in a very low income and gang ridden area. Idc if everyone including your mother calls you Lil Ray Ray or Chili or Bam or J-dawg. I'm calling you Rayquan, Achilles, Amber and Jayden. They are totally different kids in my classroom. As a side note, years later I was helping Jayden with a college application and where it asked for 'Street name" he wrote J-dawg. Names effect our entire lives. 😮

@@imakedamoney420smokeweed Almost everyday, mainly because it’s just really unbelievable. I guess it has just been bad luck for her. I’ve worked with rescue dogs before and the craziest reason for owners to bring their dog (pitbull) to the shelter was because he wasn’t “aggressive” enough. People sometimes come up with the craziest reasons to abandon their pets, so the fact she had 4 owners wasn’t something that scared me off. That being said, I visited Juno 2 times before adopting her, just to make sure we were a good match for each other and to see if there were any behavioral problems which could’ve been difficult for me to work with. Turns out she was and still is perfect ❤️

I adopted a dog who was on his 2nd shelter and one failed rehome. He had soooo many emotional issues. I didn’t get him until he was almost a year and had spent almost that entire time in shelters. He’s a cattle dog/pibble mix. When I first got him he wouldn’t stop crying and cowering and wasn’t potty trained. He’s so smart he was house broken in about 1 week and was a completely different dog within 1 month. He still has issues with fear nipping (so we use a Baskerville muzzle on busy trails or meeting new people) and is especially uncomfortable around men. Pretty sure he was abused. Came to me with scars in his head and a chunk missing from his tongue. Besides that he’s the absolute funnest, most affectionate dog I’ve ever had. He’s 11 now but still acts like he’s a puppy. Project dogs are soooo worth it. Please don’t give up on any dogs who have emotional issues. 🖤

I love watching you Rocky, and I am not a dog owner, and " petless" since september when our 16 year old Kibbles passed away. It took us a LONG time to choose her name when we found her and she was already around one and a half... But Kibbles was a good name for her!! Rocky is exceptionally good with these dogs. However, one thing to note, a frozen dog, tail down & not moving, head down, eyes down, yawning & lip-licking are all signs of distress. Honey's yawn was due to stress, not tiredness. I hope she finds a wonderful, loving home bc she deserves it. 💗 It's wonderful that Rocky highlights the dogs by spending time with them, tries to understand them on their terms &, ultimately, get them removed. She looks SO SWEET from the very start! Such sad, heartbroken eyes. She warmed up pretty darn quick, all things considered. My husband and I adopted two shelter dogs, two years apart. Both dogs were said to be better off as the only dog in the home, reactive to other dogs. When we brought the second boy home, it took about a week for the two of them to settle into sharing the home but now they play together, cuddle and nap together, and it's obvious they seek each other's company. We just have to believe in them, give them a safe space, and give them a chance!

You have no idea what their financial situation is. You don't know how long ago the vacation was, or where they went. You don't know if someone lost a job since then. And the fact that she was hurting another dog might've just been the proverbial straw. I am dealing with two dogs who got along fine, then suddenly they're having fights, sometimes several a week, with blood drawn (including mine). It is very difficult, frustrating, frightening, and disheartening. I'm thankful they are SMALL dogs, I can't imagine going through this with one or both the same size as Honey. I'm figuring out ways to manage them without needing to get rid of one, but that doesn't mean everyone can do that. Especially if there are children around. Better for a dog to be surrendered than a child get injured or killed.

She looks just like my Lolly. I adopted her here in Spain and she was the same, scared, in a corner. I adopted from a post I saw on fb without ever meeting her in person. She was broken when she arrived and would not leave her corner for a week and I could not get her outside without carrying her (25kg) for several months. She hates treats, they did not interest her, but now she lives for treats. Her bed was in the corner in the living room the first week. So I slept on the couch to keep an eye on her and not leave her alone in a strange place, but after a week I decided to go to my room. I tried to convince her to come, even carried her there, but she ran immediately back to her corner. Then I woke up in the morning and it was the most beautiful gift, she had come in the middle of the night and lay beside my bed on the ground. Although she did not interact with me, this was a great sign, as it was when I left the house and came home and she had taken one of my flipflops from the entrance into her bed to sleep with. Now, 3+ years later, that is still her spot next to my bed, she chose it, even though I'd love her on the bed, she prefers this spot. It took a good two years for Lolly to behave like a more normal dog, and even now she will never be completely fearless and "normal". The amount of abuse she had in her first year of life was unfathomable. She is a princess in the house, but scared on walks and will always be, but that's okay, I am getting used to my girl. I am so happy that you mentioned that the transformations are not always fast. When I got Lolly I had watched so many videos and assumed within a week or few months she'd be completely transformed, but this did not happen and I got really down. But now I realize, I had expectations from social media videos, but what really happened was that (with time) I had to get used to her and she had to get used to me, and then we just figured it out together over time. I just discovered your channel and it brings tears to my eyes to see people making such a difference... and yes! Names are important, they resonate meaning and energy. I am so glad her name is now Honey

I just wish my brothers(I have 3 and they're all older than me so of course I'm not gonna be listened to whether I was a male like them or not) never hit our dogs just because they did something they didn't know they weren't suppose to do. We never got rid of them btw and the last dog we got had three litters(10, 10, 3) and we only had others that wanted to adopt them do so, but ended up keeping just two from the first litter just because one of them threw up and the other one ate it🤦‍♀. I wish our dogs had a better life and I wish I knew even more than I did back then but also I was a kid still in elementary school and in&out of the hospital because diseases exists for some reason, but most importantly, I wish ppl would listen to me. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one doing research and experiments on literally everything I come across as long as I know what I'm doing :/ The only thing they've really only been trained to do(sort of) was sit, stand and "up".(Having them literally jump up on their hind legs to put their front paws in our hands or chest XD ) That one wasn't intended actually😅 but then again, most things are like that... I just wish ppl would always think before doing/saying something and do research if there is any actual true information on the internet and then experiment if not, but common sense ain't common :( and unfortunately, not every little thing you can find will always be found in a "morally correct" way because life ain't fair :/

It took her weeks to stop hiding except for food and to use litter box. I’ve had her a few years now. Not the most friendly pet. Everything on her terms. Early on several bites and scratches. I’m on a blood thinner my family kept saying return her. Those bites or scratch are rare now. I made a commitment to her and will keep it as long as possible. That’s how it must be!❤

She's been through a lot likely, probably had to fight for her meal and space with the other 70 cats. Give her some time and space, a nice cozy place in a quiet part of the house for herself where she can find peace and isn't bothered. Cats take some time to get adjusted and to gain trust. Once she realizes she's safe and you respect her space/terms she'll probably melt. Cat's are just like that, somewhat different then dogs.

Rocky, you are truly amazing and so compassionate. Poor sweetie. I am so heartened to see you sitting with these dogs. Honey is a beautiful, sweet girl and I believe that with the right owner who is loving, kind and thinks of her first, not last, she’ll do so well. I took in an abandoned dog who is still a bit frightened with certain moves due to his previous treatment, but he’s such a loving, intelligent beautiful dog after a year of love from us, and you just have to start thinking “What is the dog feeling” and “Why?” and then you’ll be rewarded with the most devoted friend you’ll ever have the privilege to be with. I wish I could fly over and adopt her, but there are plenty dogs in UK that are waiting for a loving home….I have my quota now, but I will continue to support your channel and dogs as much as I can. Thanks 🙏

So true trying to figure the “why” a dog is scared. It’s key to reaching in. I have two rescues. Sophie came out unscathed. She loves everyone. People can hug her and pet her. Zeke is my more recent rescue. He can be friendly but cautious with some people, with others he loves them instantly. His fears initially were being touched or approached by things. If a person had keys in their hand, a brush, come… even a soft fleecy jacket. I think he was abused. I know I can never know his past history 3:45

She’s a beautiful dog. The fear in her was intense, every move gave her anxiety. I wonder if she’s been abused. I’m so glad venom is not her name now, that’s such a ugly name for such a beautiful dog. I absolutely love watching these dogs come out of their shell with love and positive affirmations. These people didn’t give her unconditional love, the fee was the breaking point for them. She’s so much better off now having a chance to have a loving forever home. I pray HONEY will find one soon. Thank you Rocky for what you do! ❤🐾

@harrietlivengood6793 - “That’s such “an” ugly name” Is the proper grammar. “An” is used before a vowel, a, e, I, o, u, and sometimes Y. Not in all cases. I was taught this in the second grade. It is something that is misunderstood, and misused by many people. Not Every single situation holds true, but the majority of the time, if You follow this rule, You will be correct. Stay Positive, Vigilant, Be Kind, Happy, Caring, Respectful, Loving, and You Will Be Fabulously Blessed. 🙏🏽 ♥️ 🙌

Did anyone else notice when Rocky was told she was there 10 days and he said "That's bad" when this sweetheart heard the word bad, she turned away from him and faced the wall...like she was thinking "does he mean me?" That scene starts @3:20. I see reaction in her. It looked as if she was used to hearing that she was bad! 🥺 Check out what the character Venom looks like...google Venom and click images! She's a honey alright! When she took the entire treat so gently my heart melted! Rocky is so amazing with these hurting furbabies! 💗🙏🌺

Rocky - You have a gift with dogs! Watching the videos where you so skillfully draw out responses from the saddest ones, like Honey here, is like seeing a fragile flower slowly open to the sun after a gentle rain. These wounded animals need - and deserve - a patient, unhurried presence and a kind touch to begin to hope for better days ahead. Bless your giant heart for caring enough to give them that; you are a good and selfless person/xo Can't wait to see your updates on Honey.

As a person suffering a long lasting depression I have so much sympathy towards this sweet doggo. I wish it would be a possible for me to adopt her. We could heal each other together. I know it would be a long and probably a bumpy road, but there is a hope even with the most reactive dogs. It was so nice to see her come out in her shell just that tiny bit. Oh, how I wish I wouldn't live on the other side of the world.

As my pet son feels today as I’m away for several days… he is afraid and left alone despite my friend is closer and takes care of him more than me! Probably it’s the bond made when younger and the trust and loyalty! How much they long for someone to just show attention and kindness! Far more superior than us humans

This is amazing. I love how quickly you changed her around. Just calling her Honey instead of Venom did wonders in helping her to open up. You can tell she realiy is a sweet, kind and loving dog. She was just unfortunate enough to have originally been adopted by some people that seemed to be unkind and with bad attitudes. I used to be an Adult Felony Probation Officer and I dealt with so many people that had very messed up ideas and attitudes about life. Very dysfunctional ways. I'm sharing this. I hope that if she has not already been adopted, she soon will be by an individual, couple or family with better ways and lots of love to give AND receive.

We adopted a rescue a couple years ago, poor boy was for sure left and forgotten a lot. We know this because the guy sits RIGHT in front of the door, in walkways, he stays as underfoot and in the middle of the room as much as possible. He just doesn’t want to be forgotten again. Thankfully my family gave him a great home, and he is the most wonderful dog! He plays well with our small dog too, despite being absolutely massive in comparison. Rescues are the best! This is the best channel I’ve come across in a long time. You have such an empathetic nature, and it makes the sentiment “it’s not the dog, it’s the person” SO clear. I hope to one day have half the skill you showcase here, it’s sad to see dogs like this but one of my favorite parts about life is that you can be kind and loving to anyone, including animals, whenever you want! This video reminds me of that. Thank you for the opportunity to watch you work with Honey, I see in the comments that she got adopted! Best wishes to her and her new family 😊❤❤ Edit: My rescue’s name is Banjo btw. Just wanted to share because we adore how absurd that name is. Very fitting for him though, we just couldn’t change it.
