@bigsam85974 жыл бұрын
@@BonesDelicious06 It depends on if the individual betta is tolerant of tank mates or not. I had a shrimp in my bettas tank to do a bit of cleaning, about two weeks later I found the shrimps dismembered body on the floor of the tank in the front. But other bettas can tolerate tank mates, it all depends on the individual.

Subbed! I'll try to find/use the products you mentioned :) I just got some Crystal Red Shrimp 6 of them. (brave for a beginner, I know) I fully tested the water they came in and tested their water many times while acclimating them for about 2 hours. I floated their bag in my tank and added very little water from my tank into theirs. When their bag very closely matched my aquarium water parameters, I poured them into a fish net and transfered into my tank. They were very tiny and very alive and hungry. So far so good. I basically fully test my water every day.

If you have some shrimpy tips, let me know down below! As beginner shrimp keepers, me and Daniel love to read your advice! 👍💙 Have you seen the video about my very first pumpkin orange shrimp?
@aquaaurora27475 жыл бұрын
My main advise is keep water changes small and slow refill. Most shrimp owners do 10% or LESS for a water change. I've also learned to add new water slowly-I do this by putting the refill bucket on a bin that is taller than the tank and use a simple airline tube to feed water back in (treat water before starting to add back in). You have to keep an eye on it, or make sure you don't over fill the refill bucket and cause a mess. Doing smaller water chagnes and adding new water in slower is suppose to prevent the shrimp from getting too dramatic a water parameters change which can cause a molt. Molting too soon after a previous molt can kill them. Be sure to do update videos on these shrimp! I want to get a hold of blue dream/velvet neos, but am iffy buying from sellers that import (last attempt went poorly).

One of my favorite things to feed my shrimp is blanched, organic kale or spinach! The entire colony will graze on a leaf for days until it’s completely eaten-they waste nothing!

after acclimation, the shrimp go into a breeder basket in the aquarium with plenty of moss to hide in and graze on, for about 24 hours. any shrimp that dont make it are easily removed before they can foul the water.

I think your drip rate is very good. A couple things, I am not sure if that substrate is inert or active as an active substrate will remove kH and lower the pH; this is ideal for caridinia shrimp but not ideal for neocaridina. Shrimp are very sensitive to water parameters; the tank is setup nice but ideally to be serious about shrimp most do RODI or buy water and then reminerialize the water. The neos will do good in your tap but for ideal breeding action and health RODI/distilled water and remineralize.

RO water then adding minerals (salts) for neocardina will give better results.. its a must for any of the caridina shrimp (with caridina salts).. neo salt has GH and KH while caridina salts might only have GH. PH should be maintained with active soil, like she has. using biofilm jump starter bacteria is a good idea and will become a must once your colony grows more then 50 or so in a tank that size... feeding that many shrimp in that size tank is almost pointless, maybe once a week.. however once numbers rise it could need daily feeding, gotta feel it out.. my experience with Neos is they are very hearty and can survive in conditions they are not accustom to, maybe just not thrive..
