*NEW* SINGLE MOM OF THREE HOMELESS IN A SHELTER VLOG

Hey girl! 5 years ago i was homeless with 3 children and we stayed in a family shelter as well. However, its challenging because sometimes you have to sleep with someone in the room so its like 2 families in a room. I use to get kicked out because i would get into fights with the roomates not respecting my space and stealing things ect... but i learned a lot. I habe finally got into this shelter that is like a family apartment was just me and the kids had a mini stove, shower basically just a one unit all in one. But i got myself together, worked and finally God had opened the door for me to get my own Apartment 3 bedroom and 2 bath more spacious. If i can get out the situation you can too! It starts with baby steps and prayers

Can I ask why you are not in school? I'm wondering because you sound intelligent, articulate, and compassionate. Schools will help you with daycare. Two years is coming up fast. Where will you be in two years? You will have finished two years of school!! I have faith that you can do this. Please go to the community college in your area and talk to someone. You matter. @@Rogtamya There is LOTS of educational grant money out there that you do not have to pay back. DO NOT take out any loans. Speak to a competent financial aid officer at the school. S/he should be able to guide you to all things FREE - including childcare. This is unsolicited advice from an older sister but I am sending it to you with sisterly love.❣Take your children to the library. Get your children library cards, if you haven’t already. It’s free! There are children’s programs there. There are free adult educational classes offered there. Free training programs are listed on flyers and posters. Goodwill offers a free pharmacy technician program. I recommend pharmacy technician training because it only takes about 6 months to complete and the role is always in demand. Keep your children’s minds active during this rough period-in-time. Allow your children to use the computers with age-appropriate learning software. Ask the librarian to help you find age-appropriate reading, writing and math books. Sometimes libraries have books for sale - 25 cents to a dollar - that the children take away as their own. Thrift stores have great, cheap finds, as well. Unless she has a learning disability, your oldest daughter should already know how to count coins. She should already know that four quarters are the same as one dollar - not 40 cents. That’s a red flag for you - as her first teacher. Please work with her on that. Try to find a food pantry that serves nutritious meals. Do your library research and find out where all of the pantries are in your area. McDonald’s has very unhealthy food choices. Lastly, take care of yourself - mentally, physically and spiritually. Your children need you. You need you. Be vigilant about finding housing through your case worker. It is difficult, I know, but take one day at a time. Ignore the naysayers. Hold your head up high. Stay well. Stay safe. Be blessed. 🙂

Hi Mya, my daughters name is similar to yours. I was in a similar situation last fall a year ago, if I had a vehicle I probably wouldn’t have been the shelter, however I wouldn’t have been able to afford gas and what not. The shelter did take a huge toll on us and is a bad memory for me. We were there for three months, got out on mid December , didn’t celebrate Xmas but it didn’t matter. Lucky to have gotten a roof over our heads. It’ll make your girls strong. If I was there, would definitely come visit and get you guys some yummy foods. You get stronger every day.

How do you all know if she has court ordered child support in place but has to chase the father down to get it??? Black peoples family don’t help each other like that , most likely her family Hates on her more than have love for her , it’s (FACTS) . They probably will take in her kids but that’s only if they can recieve government assistance for them always a catch !!!!
