If you keep Great Shogun Shien out alongside the original Shi En Synchro, you can essentially lock your opponent out of activating Spells and Traps

That's a common mistake players make. Great Shogun Shien allows for only one activation of a Spell/Trap Card, but when Shi En negates the first Spell/Trap, the opponent is allowed to try one more card.
