Hi Bill, I just wanted to thank you for all of your videos over the last few years. I used to skate as a kid and loved it. However, as the 90s progressed and the 'cool' factor faded on skating, I found myself too weak to resist and thus left my skating behind like an unwanted orphan. However a few years ago, I saw some street skating taking place in London and decided to google skating and your videos were some of the first I watched and wammo, my love for skating has been rekindled and I doubt I will ever lose it now. So thank you, genuinely. Thank you very much for helping to reaffirm skating as neither 'cool', nor 'sad', but just damn fun.

Bill do you prefer the rockered or unrockered setup for these skates? I rode rockered for the first few days I bought them. Switched to unrockered because I felt this was more stable for city/urban skating. Or maybe I just sick still lol.

That was supposed to say I just suck. Stupid smartphone.

Are you still riding them flat? Just being curious, I'm looking into getting these and I'm really interested in the rockered options. Btw, do you know how Bill had his setup for this video?
@lazydaze31348 жыл бұрын
+Jonatan OTW I switch them out from flat to rockered now I'll use flat for city skating, jumps ect. I'll use rockered when I practice slidi,g, spinning moves and am not gonna go far. I've also gotten the supersonic frame with 110mm wheel setup. These are versatile skates and worth the buy.

I heard about these a while back and was intrigued. I don't know if you've tried RollerBlade Twister 80, but would you say these are basically the same thing? Apart from the adjustable frame, ofc.
@BillStoppard8 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Boguiren I've never tried the Twister but I think your comparison is spot on!
@Josh-bb3xi8 жыл бұрын
PintoPonyProductions a lot cheaper at that. How is the width compared to SEBA? My issue with Twister is that I'm flat footed and they squeeze my pads. Also, what do you think about the durability of the frames and axles? More moving parts means more things that could break, and I'd be worried about the frames getting damaged over a period of time. I'd appreciate a follow up review after you've had some time to really break them in addressing those concerns. It'd be alright if only the axles wear down because they can be replaced, but if the slots in the frame start wearing out then I'd think twice about buying these.
@danielpspersonal8 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Boguiren I skated these the other day and I dare say they are better than the twister 80, but I think its down to personal preference.
@trandinhtrungvietnam8 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Boguiren I have some experience with the Drift frames which is quite similar to these frames of Falcon. I would say that durability is not a problem, the rocker axles are locked in place on the frames, you are given two positions (2mm difference in height). Those axles are tighten by a different screw on the other side of the frames making them a very solid system. The only problem I've experience so far is when I tighten the screws very tight, the rockering axles tend to be stuck on the frames making it very difficult to take them out. Another point to consider before buying Flying Eagles skates is that they fit bigger than SEBA (not so sure about Rollerblade). Normally, Falcon size 41 will be equivalent to Fr1 size 40. My SEBA high light size 37 also have same inner length as my Flying Eagle Drift size 38.
@trandinhtrungvietnam8 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Boguiren Also, your concern should move toward the axles instead of frames, the screws are actually tightened on the axles instead of frames so breakage caused by tightening is more likely to be on the rockering axles than frames but it's still very unlikely to happen. Breakage is rare but once you lost your rockering axles, you will have to buy a new frame set since the rockering axles are completely different from regular axles and are not sold as spare parts.

@eelkeaptroot13938 жыл бұрын
Rockers can take some getting used to esspecially with agressive tricks, but they're awesome for freestyle and those hockey moves you like. If boarders call your moves sick now, then just keep practising and you'll approach the level of narly. That frame design looks like besides falcon or eagle it's got narly written all over it. Robust extruded aluminium I can tell and interesting rockering options, good luck trying to rough that up.

I really like the look of these skates. A slightly weird question: How much difference does a ventilated boot like this do compared to a fully closed boot (say for example Sebas FR line)? Is it something that you can feel as you skate? Does it compromise stability much? Someone who knows? And thanks for a great video Bill!
@jackwang46587 жыл бұрын
Jonatan OTW if by ventilated you mean the boot is exposed right down the 'front-middle' with only a buckle, strap and a few laces only it together then not really, there really isn't a huge difference.

I am also considering those two options. Some bladers say that seba fr1 was the best choice till the 2011 year where they changed the design of the shell and made it worse. Now I dont know. There is one good blog which describes them with pros and cons and I think it is the most objective review up to date, but he was reviewing the 2013 model of fr1. The falcons are better than the seba frx but dont know if they are better than the seba fr1. zecoprzepraszam.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/seba-fr1-80/

I haven't tried either but I'm deciding between the F6 Falcon or Seba FR as well. Seba seems to be a pretty solid brand in general but I've also heard some bad things about them (especially the FR1 model), mostly being that the quality of the newer models are worse than they were some years ago. The Falcons look great and I really like the ventilated boot compared to the fully closed FR boot, but I haven't read/seen too many reviews about them. This video is in fact the absolutely best review source I've found at least so far. Probably this has something to do with that the F6 (and Flying Eagle in general, if I understand correctly) are pretty new skates that not too many have tested yet, while Seba has been around for some years and more people know about them. One alternative that looks interesting could be the new Seba FR3 though, cheaper than the FR1 but one step up from the FRX.

Not really such a thing as "good but cheap". If you're new to skating you can find comfortable and stable skates for around $100, but they'll be slow.
