I called them today and told the guy about the offer, and he said he could offer me.a better deal than that. I got it for £15.00 a month, a bargain. The gear should arrive tomorrow. I’ve had Sky stream since day 1, So far has been brilliant, I’m not bothered about not being able to record programmes, fantastic picture, got mine running through a Dolby atmos sound bar, so the sound is great, neat little box so unobtrusive, basically a one box solution, a couple more apps would be good, but all in all well done Sky, love your reviews, keep up the fantastic work 👏👏

You can record but to the cloud instead of a hardrive.I have several 4k atmos serious,picture quality better than q ,never thought i would have said that.By the way for a novice like me it is certainly not plug and play.

I placed the order late Monday night and the box arrived Tuesday. Great! that blasted paper preventing the batteries making contact is far too weak for a start, it didn't take very much of a gentle pull to break, and it was such a clean break you wouldn't notice. Anyway, got it sorted and followed the on-screen instructions. Bingo. Off we go. Watched a few progs that interested me then went to bed. This afternoon around teatime I turned on the TV and settled down for a good binge. After about a half hour I noticed the sound fading so I went to turn it up. It didn't work. I tried the original TV remote, yep, that was fine. 5 minutes later the sound vanished, then the picture froze and wouldn't do anything. Then it just went back to the home page with its revolving program offers. I tried everything I could find on KZbin/Google and nothing worked. Strange thing though, although it might be me, you can easily get information on sky glass and sky stream But I'm finding it extremely difficult to find a contact for replacing a duff set up. I do hope it's just a bad remote but unless I find a method of getting a replacement I'll never know.

I was fairly impressed with sky stream despite some frustrating bugs I thought it was a good product, what as made me get rid of it is the amount of ads they recently introduced to on demand sky shows even if you pay a premium you can only fast forward them but all on demand now has up to 4 ad breaks, even now tv don’t do that.

Nice video, thanks, Paul. I've been a Sky customer for years, currently have SkyQ , had to call Sky to negotiate a better deal as the monthly cost crept up to over £80 and don't even have Sky Sports. Got it down to £60 a month but no Netflix. We do have multiroom though, don't think you covered that option in this video. The key to prevent any freezing is to have your WiFi box by your Sky Glass and hard wire the WiFi to your telly.. I've never once had an issue

I asked sky if the stream service could use the 4g hotspot from my phone & they said it could. So if your internet goes down you could link your phone to the box. It would be interesting to see that.

Enjoyed the video. I've had this a few weeks now, after leaving sky years ago. Generally very good, had a faulty puck and remote initially which sky replaced. They have just done an update moving the playlist to the top, and the old playlist becomes 'continue watching', which is better than the confusing setup as you described. Biggest issue for me is the HDMI-CEC doesn't work nicely with other devices, eg if you have another device using a HDMI input such as a firestick, and using ARC to output to an AV system, nothing works properly after using the sky box unless you power cycle everything. They really need to fix this asap otherwise I will consider cancelling when my trial is over.

Yes that's due to the copyrights that's why it plays up when you try to change the HDMI signals butternut for a reason so you can't copy the content of live channels so it will play it on the HDMI a lot and they won't fix it for one reason they don't want you to have their content lol

Question when installing do you have to pit in your postcode? As a Sky Q customer, I get STV only way I get around this to add ITV regions to add itv frequency add channels. Or get Freesat with itv1 London. I want get rid Scottish TV channels including bbc 1 Scotland as only watch BBC England regions which can get with Sky Q.

Just installed sky stream, everything is fine except hdr content, plug the box direct to lg tv and no issue, but run it through my pioneer lx59 and I get green picture and pixelated, have to either switch off and on or un plug hdmi, getting the issue with Netflix and u tube hdr content, did not have the issue with sky q

It's quite expensive. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the picture quality it looks great. HDR is the biggest complaint but HDR is poor on a lot of TVs. They have updated this to improve it. Is there ai upscaling available on sky glass? It's not available on sky q.

Thanks for the great review! I have just plunged for a Sky Glass and the Sky Puck 2 days ago. Coming from Sky Q i do think ill miss elements of recording content but so far i am very impressed with the menu system, hardware and more importantly the picture and sound quality. Using the Puck in my cinema room i did think i was downgrading the experience from Sky Q. After watching 10 mins from the new “Dune”, BBCs “SAS Heroes” & “Saving Private Ryan” - all 3 look and sound stunning! Netflix’s Altered Carbon was another impressive experience. I still have a few weeks to change my mind but i can see this being the way forward

@@TheTechGiantKZbin mine worked for the first few days then didn’t light up or do anything. It wasn’t the batteries. They’ve got a troubleshooting guide which I followed and tried again. Nothing worked so they said that this is a known problem and they arranged the swap with DPD. The replacement is glitchy too, so I will phone them tomorrow. You can buy different colours but likely to have same issues. They should release a remote app, a bit like the old Sky+ one.

@@TheTechGiantKZbin got an update on this. Sky are sending me a THIRD one. They say they have now manufactured remote controls without the issue. They took them off sale on Amazon the other day, where they had different colours available. So if anyone goes for a replacement from now the remote should be ok. There’s a delay with them as there are so many duff ones so it’s about 3-5 days at the moment. DPD come and you give them the old remote and they give you a new one.

Great content and very informative, just a shame Sky are so expensive, especially when adding the extra's. Most of the popular channels are available on Freeview. Looks like they now include HD. I had a Q box and was paying for UHD and then discovered they still charged for HD! My contract ends in October and I'll not be subscribing to Sky again. A 31 day rolling contract shouldn't cost more. Nearly every other streaming service doesn't, so why do Sky think they can get a way with it?

Thanks for the video Paul. I’ve just taken the plunge today and decided to upgrade from Sky Q to Sky Stream. I was concerned about being unable to record at first but then realised it’s not something I do often anyway so wasn’t an issue. Me and my wife are in the middle of renovating the living room and tried to move everything round but would’ve meant getting extendable cables from the dish which would’ve looked awful trailing around my room. Sky Stream does away with that which was a massive bonus for us. They said I should receive my boxes tomorrow. Can’t wait. How you finding Sky Stream so far?

What they don't tell you is that there's no subtitles for most of the shows and movies - especially watched on demand or in 4K. You pay for UHD but they can't even provide subtitles. Also, many people experience on demand stuff being stuck on looping adverts or freeze after the ads. Youd need to pay extra for skipping the ads anyway. The thing is broken and you're locked into a 18 month contract. I'd rather watch Netflix or use Apple TV

I ditched sky around 8 years ago, best thing we did, crazy pricing!! As a gadget freak, I'm glad they've finally embraced the streaming Side of things giving people more options. However, the pricing is still mental. Charging a "set up fee" for simply nothing. Charging for HD, 4K HDR is nuts to me. And then there's their black Friday sales ... your saving £1 per month. 😂😂😂😂 Nice to see they are still ripping people off. I myself stick with Freeview, have Netflix and Disney plus pays for its self-thanks to the Tesco club card vouchers. As for the footy I get that through other means. My monthly bill comes to less than sky's £25 a month and I get way way more. Can also occasionally dip into Now Tv from special deals from time to time to watch Sky Atlantic stuff etc. Last deal i got for Entertainment was £2.99 a month for 3 months. As a former regular SKY subscriber the final decision was made thanks to their horrendous so called 'customer services'. Sooner go to the dentist and have a tooth pulled can be shockingly indicative of the truth when it comes to terminating with SKY. I don't see any reason now to be a SKY customer when there are so many other streaming options available that don't tie you up in long VERY long contracts. As you rightly point out their charging can be mental.

The problem with sky is they’re still holding onto a subscription model that’s over 10 years old and seem to be reluctant to change it and join everyone in 2022. Most people hold onto the whole recording feature being the thing that stops them cancelling but when you have on demand apps this nullifies this argument imo. Guess where I am going re that.. appeared NOT to communicate with the other and what happens then?? As you got the UHD version with Dolly Atmos. Does the BBC Iplayer app on Sky Stream show UHD. As the BBC seem to enable this only for certain apps. Also the WI-FI card on the Sky Stream is it wi-fi 5 or wi-fi 6 enable thx

Not for me, my5 & UKTV are missing for a start. Sky will push this as they will save a fortune - no dish or installation costs. They can basically throw their installers onto the dole. Plus if the customer is on a basic ADSL internet connection, they'll have to shell more out to upgrade to fibre to get the higher bandwidth what will make this unit run more stable. Like many things these days - it's too expensive.

Got rid of sky after 27 years, but thought I’d take a look at sky stream. Nothing has changed with the greedy company those stupid prices are crazy, why charge more for a rolling contract?!?!? To be honest if you want a good alternative to this go with NOW TV it’s still sky (streamed£ & the pricing is very good with always offers especially in these crazy cost of living times👍🏻

We have Sky Glass which is basically this but built into a TV at my mother in laws and it works well for her as she can’t get Arial TV due to trees. I wonder why there’s no shopping channels though.

Biggest issue is when your internet is down which happens to me occasionally. I’d have no tv. For it to be successful sky have to add a record function. Problem sky have is there are so many alternatives that are far cheaper so why would people who don’t have sky get it. I’ve been with them over 20 years and currently have sky Q which has been great but was costs a lot. Been looking at nowtv which a lot cheaper but not sure about PQ.

How is the stream on the middle fibre package ? We have sky q at the moment . Plus Apple TVs and ps5 4K streaming But for some reason according to the sky website , our internet isn’t fast enough for the stream to be installed ?

Good review. I have a few questions if anyone has the info. Does the box support HDMI 2.1 and gigabit ethernet? Can you restart a TV programme that has finished I.e. a football match, or 4/5 hour golf broadcast? And if so, can you then fast forward as its effectively finished or still broadcasting? Does the stream service offer multiroom and can you watch 4k in every room, something you can't do with Sky Q. As an observation I would have thought there's room for Sky to offer a cloud based subscription service for a few pounds per month, even if its only 100gb...enough for 20/30 hours of recordings.

One major problem I don’t like with Wi-Fi streaming boxes is that when I’m watching live sports it’s actually like 20 or so seconds behind what sky q are showing because it’s doesn’t come straight from the dish

So if its 20 sec behind live TV, its “not live TV “it’s a streaming service and in that case unless it’s a BBC service, you don’t require a TV licences. 👍
