if they keep adding items to the game, they can just add 1 more spot in the shop to preserve the chances you have of finding something specific

that's the point of adding new items, they had a pool on discord and players wished for more items to be added to pools for diversity

All the items they added this patch are crafted so it doesn't change the pool

what we need (read: what i think would be awesome) is a battlegrounds type system. Limited item pool, 8 players dedicated to a single lobby... stuff like that.

Ivy with stoneskin and mana potion setup. You get a burst of poison to get the extra dmg which increase the poison you inflicts and have no mana issue

I think the serpent staff shouldn't be viewed as a poison applicator. I think it should be looked at as a scaling weapon like regular magic staff or magic torch. You'd want to find a way to increase the damage it deals which subsequently causes it to apply more poison.

I played serpant staff mana torch with reaper. Needs to be refined but with sapphire on the torch and amethyst on corrupted armor and emerald on the snake staff. Was hitting 50+ poison most end matches

On pyro with either lantern or poison dragons, seems ok: this could be the start that leads to either one. On Berserk, anvil or nuckels wih poison dagger or deerwood full gass I suppose? Reaper, with snek and poison goob, cauldron poison/dark potion bomb (if you get 3+ potions early) or struggle if you hit 3+ early berries. On ranger, leaf seems the easiest for early prock (and it is the mana build item) or ivy (though this would require a mana pod, stoneskin to trigger it and an armor/5 little bags/some chrystals to triggerr it).. I still think this would be less complicated if it would just apply 3 poison for mana on attack and trigger a "additional" poison tick on hit (kinda like chrystals).

It's weird how you can hit for zero and at the same time have it be a critical.

Not really. Whether or not you hit for critical isn't tied to how much damage you do. The game checks for a critical hit before any damage mitigation is applied, so you can roll a crit and then the game checks your opponent and sees that they have crown immunity active or whatever else, and the damage dealt is set to 0; it doesn't go back and change your crit roll. It presumably works this way so that on-crit effects still apply even if the damage itself is mitigated.
