I know thru actual proof that my life, my family and our community have benefits in our areas of our lives. SGI has proven itself to be an organization that truly contributes positively. to its members and society.

Let's talk about 50K and Rock The Era. They were billed by the SGI as methods of accruing so much good fortune and changing society for the better. In reality, they were time wasters geared toward aggrandizing Daisaku Ikeda and his failed idea of a human revolution leading to a change in the destiny of humanity. I should know because I was in 50K.

SGI is not Buddhism. It is a New Religion. Do your research and be careful. I'm not saying it's a bad or negative group. But anything calling its self Buddhism needs a Dharma (the teaching) the Sangha (monks or Priests) and the Buddha. Being in the SGI makes you a follower not a Buddhist. Know the difference

I am an ex-member of this cult (SGI) and had taken FIVE YEARS to through a much more legitimate non-religious ORDER, the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC who is also worldwide but found in every encylopedia and dictionary without any negative commentary! I have offered my eternal gratitude that I FINALLY had outgrown the bad brainwashing effects that Sokagakkai had dumped upon me for a one decade period! I am a Querdenker (German for free thinker) the best position to have in life! I control someones life, MINE!

@White I know enough to understand that the SGI is not Buddhism. When the Temple makes you leave and the you edit the sutras and produce Gohonzon prints and do what you want to anyway you can't be Buddhist. You are a New Religion. If someone doesn't say anything people will think you're practicing Buddhism and that's just not true. The real thing has so many more moving parts. Nichiren Shoshu, Shingon, Tendai, the Nara schools. Those are real Buddhism.

@White paint how ever you want. The Soka Gakkai was ousted from the Original Temple in 1991. The sutras they chant are edited. The Gohonzon's they confer are also altered and mass produced. Nothing you write up here changes that. And if you dig deeper you find Daisaku Ikeda's connections to the New Komeito Party. And that's really whats at the bottom of all this is politics and money. Understand no one is trying to take this from you. You like SGI? Fine. Keep it. The way to have to point at other schools to make yourself better about your choices calling them devils further cements my Original point. The SGI is a New Religion. NOT Buddhism.

@White your reply was just artical from some where. you are only fighting this hard because you know you walked into something that is a copy of a copy. The word cult is even in your reply. Daisaku Ikeda does what he wants and you follow him not the Buddha. You are sipping from the most weak and dirty stream. Why not go to the well the wisdom is from? I could understand if you grew up in the West and didn't know any better. But if you live in Japan and still do this thats worse because you should be able to tell the difference. Your parents failed you. When someone is drowning if they don't want to be saved you leave them or they'll take you along and you both drown. I can only extend a hand. the centers, pretty much all over the world, are supported by volunteers; as this is new a new center, it will take a little bit of time for them to work out the best times to have someone on phone enquiries or emails; I hope this helps :-)

I am sgi from philipines.. lot of of negative agenda against sgi due to jealousy from nichiren shoshu priesthood and its direct lay temple members where sgi had its spiritual independence from autocratic priesthood in 1991.. Happy SGI spiritual independence day..

Dave Walton thats the insidious nature of brainwashing, you know the SGI it makes you feel like your life is going to go to hell in a hand basket when you quit so people are very afraid and are unable to question without being marginalized.
