I heard that Needles Kane from Twisted Metal was going to be in the game, but the developers decided not to include him. Maybe he will be one of the special robots featured in this update.

You can see in concept art that he and Princess Plump (Fat Princess) were bot designs they made, but aren't in the game itself. Noticeably Plump DID have a bot in Astro's Playroom, Twisted Metal just got a reference in one of it's trophies, so who knows why they aren't in the base game.

In the credits, they give thanks to various games, which are stellar blade, assassin’s creed, beyond: good and evil, Rayman, croc, rise of the ronin, and worms (Armageddon), these are all most likely because they couldn’t make in time for release, or because of a marketing attempt, except Rayman, so there might be a new Rayman game soon!
