Too bad to see Speed Duels ending. Just last year I met the format and I am craxy about it. It is the perfect boardgame for my playgroup who used to play. Since support is going away I guess I'll try to foil some cards using my old collection, and maybe add some cards to balance the decks to play against each other for posterity... What a great trip this has been. n_n

Fitting end to Speed Duel I guess, at least we get the Secret OG Art Blue Eyes hopefully. Also Konami already officially confirmed that this will be the final Speed Duel product.

Where did they say that? Only confirmation is them saying they are pausing for a rest and this initial saga of speed duel is concluded.

Konami confirmed this will be our last set for speed duels and that the product line will be discontinued and replaced with something as of yet unannounced. Speculation is a Rush duel replacement in the same speed duel box model. It's been a good run. Hopefully, the format can maintain a following for years to come.

Speed duel is the perfect format for bringing in new players and for old players who aint played in years. Sad to see konami abandoning it tbh.

@CasualDuelist The source video was made private, I just tried to access it to link it here. The tl;dr was a yugioh distributor was discussing speed duel on a podcast. The product wasn't selling to Konami's expectations and would only be seeing one more product release before being replaced with a new product line. That said? It could have been a mistranslation. It could be to generate hype and build attention towards the set. They teased this product line's death before when they went into GX. The video being made private two weeks afterward is really making me question it. Fingers crossed I'm wrong about all this and fell for an internet hoax.

@guymcperson9300 it happens, there has been big talk at every release that the format will be discontinued but never on the blog that releases the banlists. I usually attribute it to hype sets since they backed off the booster pack method. It would be fun if they added rush duels, but honestly I figure Konami will continue to offer speed duel as an intro product to the main format even if it isn't as profitable just like all the game companies do with starter or intro deck products.
