A new SUV has to be particularly impressive in terms of luxury, practicality or value for money to compete in what is a cut throat SUV market.
Falling into the value for money category is the fourth generation Ssangyong Korando.
Although Ssangyong is a relatively unknown name in the UK, its large practical cars like the Ssangyong Korando SUV promise a lot of car for very little money.

Hi dvillalba3d, kris here. I take your point completely about a direct comparison between the Ssangyong and the two Germans. This was never the intention. Like everything we are doing with video for Motortorque I am trying to make it as fun as possible. The aim of the blind fold test was to demonstrate there is a place for lesser known brands in the uk, plus the fact Ssangyong have a long way to go in improving their product to meet the standards of their competitors such as Mazda and Kia.

i have a korando and i love it. for the pice it is perfect and it does great mileage.

So which car is this? Well it's pretty bloody obvious when your sitting a foot higher than the other two vehicles. At least make the comparison fair with similar sized vehicles.

Had never heard of the Ssangyong Korando before, sounds a bit like a GI Joe villain haha! I do like the look of it though and this was an interesting take on a normal review - keep it up.

i have a diesel 2013 Korando , i am facing serious problem with black cloudy scary smoke . i took it three times to service , and still waiting .

Not many people have, it's still in the shadows a bit - plus with the likes of the Korando SUV, competition is vicious.

i only have the 4x2 diesel. it is great on the road. heaps of power and lots of room. for the price it is great. not sure about the 4x4 but if i got another one i would get the petrol 4x4 auto. petrol were not available when i bought mine.

Of course they will know they aren't in the ssangyong because its higher then the others should have got a BMW SUV and a Mercedes SUV and the ssangyong to make it fair

Korando seems the Best car in its Price level but not sure about the resale value.

The identification test is pretty ridiculous. Blindfold them, put them in similar cars that compete with each other and let then take a ride inside for five minutes each without haven seen the cars before. This test was far from ideal or even useful.

Ssangyong should be compared to other Korean SUV, (in terms of quality and finishing) is absurd to compare a Korean SUV with luxury German sports car.

Great manly design with outdated quality. Not yet on the league of Hyundai. But I like that their car resembles a SUV, not a slightly tall car. Sorry if I was out of line didn't know your line of comparisons. It was the first video from you I saw. But the comparison was a bit over the top.

Seriously???!! You think the competition of Ssangyong is Mercedes and BMW? What was the point? Proving people is not stupid and can tell the difference between expensive and affordable cars??
