I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzbin.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

I bought a 362 with a wrap handle and came with a 28 inch. It will run the long bar but I switched to a 25. Does a lot better. The longer bar has to be a super sharp chain or don’t bother.

25 inch might be a bit overkill for that saw. 20 in hardwood seem like a good bar lenght for the 362. I'm using a 25 on the 462 when falling and an 18 when bucking firewood.

I'm gonna get a MS362 w/20" b&c. My dealer has them with the regular carburetor and M-Tronic's for the same price. I'm leaning towards the regular carbureted version.

My 362c doesn't sling enough oil when I use a 25" bar. Wish the oiler kept up. Saw has no problems pulling it strength wise though.
@endurancekennels5 жыл бұрын
You can thin it out by adding used motor oil.
@JG542064 жыл бұрын
Do you have the Oiler turned up? It has an adjustable Oiler on it and it doesn’t come maxed out.
@jumper5534 жыл бұрын
Then something is wrong, because you can open it up and easily adjust to too much. Make sure it's cleaned out. And I guess you could thin the bar oil, however I have run a longer bar and had no issues. And I'm talking about a longer bar on hardwood (oak and juniper). And I am talking about in below zero (°F) as well as over 100°F.

Great review! I'm torn between with MS 261 C-M (18" bar) and the MS 362 C-M (20" bar). This would be the only saw I'll have, for now. Its for an acreage, property and land maintenance, fire wood, etc... Thoughts?
@endurancekennels2 жыл бұрын
Both great saws. The 261 is more than capable of taking anything on. I use it more because of the weight. Easier to buck branches without breaking your back.

I just bought a 362 like 3days ago, its my first saw ever an a noob really, though ive done lots of research online like most of us do. So i went to the local Stihl dealer a very unfriendly man who owned the place was working, iam looking at his shelf of saws an i see the 362 an the tag says 362 C-M, i tell the guy thats the one i want so he gets it off the showroom shelf we do our exchanges i give money he gives me the saw, as leaving iam thinking well damn i just dropped $960 bucks an didnt even get an owners manual but figured its not that complicated. I get home fire up the saw alls well, then i get to looking at it an the cover where it says 362 on the side dont have the C or the M on it, then i get to comparing pics an notice i do not have the M-Tronic an hell i dont know if its the C- comfort saw either. Did i just get ripped off or what, i was under the impression i was getting the C-M version. This saw has the 2stage choke an the adjustment holes for the carburetor. Does anyone know if i got screwed or what?
@endurancekennels2 жыл бұрын
No idea without any pictures. The carb is self adjusting on the C-M highly doubtful you were ripped off.

The GenII models don't seem to have any issues. I bought a new 362c m tronic in July. I work for a powerline right of way clearing company and use it quite extensively 4 days a week with a 25". I recently ported the muffler and it really opened it up...gotta be easy with the booger picker!
@jumper5534 жыл бұрын
Maybe you are reading threads from when it was first introduced. They (I) had many issues with the M Tronic not starting once it was hot. Thought it was just me until I learned that it was widespread. Stihl dealt with it appropriately too. That was... 5-6 years ago and it is well proven now. Or at least that's what I'm seeing in the wildland fire saw world.
