*NEW* Stiphodon Semoni - Cobalt Blue Goby

Hey Guys! I hope you are all doing well today I want to show you another Stiphodon Goby I keep in my Hillstream Aquarium. These gobies are called Stiphodon Semoni, also known as Cobalt Blue Goby, Blue Neon Goby or Opal Cling Goby.
These gobies are super colourful when they are fully mature. They have a bright band of neon blue against their dark black body. Also, they have a ton of personality which makes them really interesting to keep.

Always the best channel for goby info! My cobalt's are still young so no major color yet. Have only learnt two things so far: 1 Good oxygenation is more important than current itself and 2 always add to well established tanks. Cheers again for the videos.

Happy to help! They can do well in hard water but I have moved to an area with softer water and it seems like they prefer it. But they will be happy in hard water!

I had something like this as a fully grown adult, 8-10 inches and was very nice and a cool fish. Mine swam up in the water column, a lot.

Hmm I think that’s a different fish, these gobies grow to max of 2-3 inches!

In my Hillstream aquarium I have: stiphodon annieae, stiphodon atropurpureus, stiphodon aureofuscus, stiphodon ornatus, stiphodon pelewensis, stiphodon rutilaureus, stiphodon semoni and stiphodon surrufus!

There isn’t a minimum. A group of 1 male to 2 females is good if possible.

@@KrishsAquariumsok nice. To be honest id probably just go with 1 out of fear of getting 2 males. (And the fact I’m gonna probably order them online makes it a hassle) do they feed on Bacter ae? To my understanding it’s basically biofilm powder

It could be an internal parasite problem, are they skinny?

@Gamingspurs I think it could be a parasite thing, try and get some anti internal parasites medication and also make sure there is lots of algae for them to graze on!

I've been reading that you should only keep one of these in your tank as they're aggressive towards each other. Are you having trouble with that?

I have had some fin nipping but nothing serious. There is usually a hierarchy that forms with males with one becoming the alpha!

There is some mild aggression but nothing serious, just abit of chasing around

I think at the moment I got around 8 different species, the Oase external filter I am using does a great job. I want to upgrade it in the future so there is even more flow around the aquarium!

At the moment Semoni are my favourite, they coloured up more! I think my atropurpureus are still too young to fully colour up!
