Great video as always. Funny how we both independently had the idea to use the first item unloader to create parallel waterstreams! Your approach seems much more realistic and survival friendly than mine though. Can't believe I didn't think of using an encoded approach to do this, it makes so much sense now, well done!

Great video ! I am always waiting for the next storage video you pu out, they are so clever and seem practical for a survival world ! I wasn wondering if that system however didn't keep the flaw of a "finite" amount of sorted items unless you had more slices (if i understood correctly), ie you would still need to set up a filter specifically for waxed weathered cut copper stairs in 1.17, or for each type of candle... Wouldn't it still be beneficial to set up a programable MIS at the end of the bulk/halls ? A wall of chests containing rarely used items for which it is not worth setting up a special filter ?
@bluelemon2433 жыл бұрын
He has a multy item sorter video
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sardoron, the issue with using the MIS is that to make the unloaders work efficiently you need to separate item types that you might want to store together in an MIS. This makes it more beneficial to use it as a parallel entity item sorter as that way it doesn't care about the order of items because they will be sucked up by their respective item filter down the line. When I look at the data I gathered from SMP servers there is a clear trend that half of all items will fit in a double chest, furthermore there are 90 items at the lowest end which combined would fit in 2 double chests. It may be worthwhile to dedicate an unloader to an MIS for these items specifically. However we can't know for certain how we may classify the 1.17 items until we start figuring out what they can be useful for.
@Sardoron3 жыл бұрын
@@cubicmetre OK i see it makes sense, it might just be worth to add rapscallion hopper speed MIS for those really scarce items at the end of the spectrum EDIT : For my use at least

Hey @cubicmetre, can you design a storage for 1.17 with no/little lag with all items in 1.17 and that have no bugs or issues you must fix? and is the storage from how to kill a chest monster still functional in 1.17?

@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
This storage system has been designed for ilmango's patreon in quite a hurry, it has a minor flaw that we intend to deal with as we use the system, we're hoping it's not a massive issue but I want to make a better design with more hopper locking.
@bluelemon2433 жыл бұрын
@@cubicmetre what is the flaw ? Im just curious
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
@@bluelemon243 The item filters for the loose chest items while active will lock the hopper lines feeding the box loader for the same slice. This is unlikely to cause issues given loose chest items are not sorted very often, but there is still a possibility for a box loader to backlog and eject a box prematurely.

Hey cubic! Would have dmed you on discord but couldnt find you anywhere. You should create your own discord for the fans of your content! I noticed in some of your storage system videos you had a neat few slices of useful items like food, elytras, enderpearls etc. I also noticed there was a cactus slice. Do you guys use flipping cactus on the server? I just started a technical server with a few friends and we are deciding between using flipping cactus and tweakaroo. We currently dont like that tweakaroo has many overpowered options so we were hoping to get an opinion from someone who has been a part of many technical servers and has a great mind.
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aim, I am a member of the Scicraft server and we have our own discord: discord.gg/SciCraft As for tweakeroo, I personally only use the more moderate features like accurate, offest, reverse and fast block placement in survival. Even though it has a few rather OP features, at the end of the day it's about how you want to play the game and you can always choose not to use a feature if you believe it to be unfair or not fun.
@Erritiguei13 жыл бұрын
so i built up the design by Boyenn, both from this video and the one he made, and whenever I unload a shulker box with it, three items always get stuck in it. Specifically in the first barrel, and the hoppers above and below it. Did I build it wrong, or is this a known issue?

Why do you want to avoid using splitters?
@OmbudRov3 жыл бұрын
Iirc the splitters kept breaking
@memeball62263 жыл бұрын
From my understanding there are designs that do not break.
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
The splitters are fine and worked perfectly, the only reason I want to avoid them is that unloading boxes with hoppers is the most time consuming process of any item sorter. And a splitter adds an additional step of doing exactly that. So bypassing the splitter effectively doubles the sorting speed.
@memeball62263 жыл бұрын
@@cubicmetre With the concept that you are using what do you think the max speed you can sort items? (Given you get enough item types to do so)
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
@@memeball6226 When I tested the sample of mixed boxes from Hermitcraft it was sorting at about 45Kph, which is over half the speed of the system from How to Kill a Chest Monster.

What happen if the first item on a full shulkerbox with various type of item is an unstakable? The encoder misses the entire box right? (I know that this can be solved just dont being stupid when u put boxes in the input...)
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
ANY item not found in the encoder goes straight to an overflow where it is removed from the box, the box then returns back to the start to sort the next item in the box.
