What best about tornadoes is that the amount of damage that is done will scale the tornado from 1-5 and also if you see a tornado standing still u might want to find shelter because that is a possibility that it's coming right at u

Not polished yet but looks like it has potential. I live about 30 miles south of Dallas and deal with multiple tornados in the area every year and this game does trigger a bit of anxiety. So they're doing something right.

@Jeff Favignano, well this is certainly different. I didn't realize they had "Severe Weather Games." Ty for the video Jeff! I really don't know anything about "Meteorology" and "Storm Chasing." I know Jupiter has a rather large "storm" wherein multiple Earths could fit inside it but some said the storm has been shrinking & that it's becoming more circular and supposedly wind speeds were increasing. I've never seen a tornado funnel in RL but we did have one here a few yrs ago. It was said to be ~137mph winds. Thing is, they're not typical here, the last one similar to this was almost 100 yrs ago! I knew that severe weather was a high risk that day but never expected this... I was brushing my teeth etc., and noticed the power flicker a few times & then it went out. I then opened the front door and I could see the large swirling cloud above... The funnel was just out of view but the sound of the wind is unique and not something you forget, it sounded like a continuous jet engine sound in the distance that you'd hear at the airport. I could hear damage being done in the distance and the storm was moving in this direction. You know, we watch these things on TV/video and people chase them, some are fascinated etc., but when you don't know if in a few seconds this thing could destroy your home, injure or kill you/loved ones, it's rather terrifying... The weird thing is, for lack of a better term, I saw what I'd call a "ghost" or "satellite" tornado that came down the street adjacent to me and there was debris being spun in the air about 50 or so feet up... I just said "NO!! YOU'VE GOT TO GO!!" And thankfully it vanished, the debris it was carrying fell and the large storm had "drawn back up" as suddenly there was a strong wind and it just began to rain normally... Then I could hear the Fire Dept., etc. My family was quite worried and tried to get to me but the 5 entrances we normally have were reduced to just one which they couldn't get to without going far out. They told me it was like a "warzone" where they tried to come in, trees down, power lines and poles snapped/mangled and in the streets. Some vehicles were moved and damaged... That thing actually stopped it's destruction almost exactly 1 mile from me. IIRC my folks who were living at that time, had just been on the highway before that thing dropped down and did some damage there and I believe they said the storm traveled more than 40 miles dropping down and picking up again and again. Absolutely insane.

1:45 You might want to notify the game devs to remove that EAS broadcast alert sound. It is very illegal to use those tones, unless they want to be fined. Fox's has been sued for using it in there a superbowl game. They don't joke around with this sort of thing. In fact you might wanna edit this video and mute any parts with the EAS.

@@jfavignano Just changing the pitch of the tones isn't good enough. There is a reason FEMA & FCC don't want those tones being played. The use of the sound is prohibited to prevent people becoming desensitized to something you should only hear in the most dire circumstances. "To preserve the unique purpose and effectiveness of the EAS Tones, the Commission enforces laws that prohibit their use or simulation, except for specific permitted uses." -FCC

That’s awesome they made a game based off the famous movie with Bill Paxton, Helen Hunt and Phillip Seymour-Hoffman and so many other iconic actors! Twister was my favorite movie growing up and never gets old! Bill Paxton is a national treasure and will be forever missed! What an amazing guy and a amazing actor! We’re u a big fan of twister too growing up Jeff? I imagine so cause u play a lotta storm chasing related games, I was jus curious, and seeing that yellow and blue striped truck with the lights on top bring me back to the movie when Bill said to Helen, “Tighten ur seatbelt!” And drive into the ditch! i have this game,i found you have to be in towns to set off the sirens,but it doesnt let you as of yet to turn them off,but when i played i seen the dark clouds,but nothing on the ground like i see in yours,unless theres a way to spawn them,looks like a cool game once its figured out

Sam has been working on this since the other dev abandoned the old game. He was very involved in mods for Storm Chasers then branched out on his own. He'll continue working on it for a while yet!

Game is pretty cool the only thing that the game forgot is the Emergency Alerts With the three tones you heard are SAME Headers they didnt exist till 1997, rather than the time of 1990 they Emergency Alert System was called the Emergency Broadcast System, The EBS didnt had the Headers rather than a tone for TVs which uses the frequncey of 853Hz & 960Hz formally as an Attention Tone. that time for it because this used to activate the EBS on AM/FM & on TV for Weather Alerts and yes Weather Radios were extremly outdated, how it works for old Weather Alert Radios was 1050Hz toning so the EBS could activate on that specific weather alert. and yes theres 1050Hz Weather Alert Radios being made in 2023.
