Real reason is because Toriyama wants the future timeline to always be dark and have lasting consequences. Shin Budokai 2 actually does acknowledge the future afterlife tho and involves both F Goku and F Gohan in the plot. I recommend checking it out. Future Goku and the other dead Z fighters could easily have King Kai locate New Namek and give Trunks the location. Bulma can easily make a space ship considering she built a time machine. Just have to suspend your disbelief even more than usual w future timeline.
