My only concern is that after the break up occurs, the stern just drops down like a rock and doesn't raise up or anything. I think if i do purchase the model I will have to modify it in some way.

It is real. You actually can get it. Look up titanic starlight edition and put your settings ( the 3 dots in the top right) for the videos to 1 month or after. And there is 3 or more people that has gotten it. In fact the model is so good that as soon as it got back into stock it got sold out immediately.
