I just got back into skating. I’m using my old World Industries deck from 1999. Krux Trucks. Some no name wheels I think (I don’t think they’re the matching World Ind Battle 55mm wheels). Grip tape may be Jessup, but not sure. My shoes are some WalMart Etnies hi-tops Being a beginner again, I can’t say if my setup is good or bad. I guess technically riding a 25yo razortailed deck with 25yo wheels, bushings, and bearings is not the optimal setup, but it’s working until I can get around to replacing parts

I used to label my front truck before I had crooks down. Now my front and back are way too easy to tell apart to bother due to the different crook, feeble and 50-50 grooves. Even fresh trucks a few sessions in become pretty easy to tell apart if you’re skating crusty ledges. Currently riding Ace 55 classics on an 8.375 girl board. Working well so far!

Not sure if anyone already mentioned it but there is a 144 / 8.25" axle from Indy. Might be worth trying next when you wear through your 149's as it would save a bit more weight on the setup.

I really like that fresh new board! Dunks feel like old school fat skate shoes but they look pretty sleek, if you’re into them. I’ve always liked wearing them. They do have a narrower footprint than older fat skate shoes though. After a while ollieing in them feels pretty good and for me I start locking in that little spot right in front of the swoosh. Whereas I tend to ollie with the tip of my foot naturally. The shoe feels good when you curl your foot in and slide it up or flick. Not easy for heelflips in my case, and the tongue rips hella fast. Overall; The dunk is a good skate shoe… I bought it hoping it has a strong foam midsole, and I watched shoe cutting videos a lot. My dogs were just killing me. My front truck says UwU on it! Honestly The board I skate best with is lightweight. I have a heavier one with 8.3 deck, 8.25 forged hollow slappys, sealed bearings and 56mm (green) dragon conical wheels. My light setup is an 8” with 7.75 basic indy trucks (139’s?) and 52mm wheels, blue ccs shop bearings. I ollied over a board 3 times with it the other day before all the rain started. It’s a dark green blank with a blue ply under with a green top ply and it has clear griptape with slayer on it.

I have to sacrifice alot of flatground to have a bigger wheelbase. I can't ride a deck under 33 inches long because I have a wide stance. But I find riding ace/slappy trucks shortens the wb just a bit, Along with smaller wheels makes it manageable. Have you tried a longer board?
