Just curious Jon why someone would choose one of these "old school" Sport Touring bikes over the ADV segment which people have grown to love? Truthfully asking. The way I see it compared to a 1050 XT or Tracer 9 GT is just that these are wider in the engine area and less torquey for street riding. For true LONG distance highway cruising I totally understand the point of the silky and powerful 4.

Prematurely sold a 2010 Honda VFR1200F. Until now, I have had little optimism that there would be a replacement with the high quality fit and finish of Honda and the excellent freeway manners. I think the GSX-S1000GT just might be the better replacement! I've looked through Suzuki's marketing materials on the GSX-S GT', and they've really put their best foot forward to not only understand what motorcyclists are demanding from a sports tourer, but explaining what changes they've made. From front to back, this motorcycle looks extremely thoughtful and I'm definitely inspired to see it and consider purchasing one. One of the other things I really like with Suzuki's approach here is the emphasis on refinement. Sure, they added some electronics like rider modes and traction control, but they didn't go over the moon with the electronic wizardry. Rather, they refined what they already do best, like making a new subframe to handle the additional weight of the panniers, and testing the pannier connection to the frame over bumps to minimize movement but retain some flexibility. The extensive wind tunnel testing for airflow direction around the rider, the application of thicker, using injection molded plastic instead of hot press forming and thicker material for the screen for optimizing its shape and strength....all just thoughtful ways of doing the things that they already do. This is progress!

@@bennettsbikesocial appreciate the quick feedback Michael! That is true, that Suzuki aimed this bike towards the sportier end and would therefore likely have higher foot pegs. Sports tourers by nature are a compromise in that regard aren’t they. I currently use my crash sliders on my naked bike as highway pegs to stretch my legs out on occasion so realistically, footpeg position isn’t the end all be all. Again, just gotta sit in the bike myself to see, can’t wait! 😊

Nice looking bike. But why do manufacturers insist on not providing a main stand for bikes that are supposed to used for touring? Main stand just makes loading a bike up with camping gear and oiling the chain on a trip so much easier

I have a Suzuki with one of those fancy tablet looking instrument displays ,it looks oK but they could be difficult & expensive to replace if you want to own it long time .Also the vandals seem to be drawn to them & have a tendency to mess with them ,Not everything modern is automatically better .I prefer the old analogue given a choice ,just a rev counter & speedo ,fuel gauge ,temp gauge & normal idiot lights, less to go wrong & less expensive to fix if it does .

This will be a solid motorcycle for Suzuki in the Sport Touring segment. Competiting directly against Kawasaki 1000LT & Yamaha GT-9. I'm guessing big sale numbers for this model.

Can you get a top box as well as panniers? Be hard to fit camping gear in the two panniers with other gear for a 2 week trip to the Picos or is it a ride to hotel type tourer??

A great first look and one of the few videos with an interview with suzuki. Couple of points, Shame this GT bike doesn't come with heated grips. Also I wonder if the uk will get the option of the GT+ model ,( panniers as standard and touring screen) seems odd that they didn't included the panniers for a little bit more money ad standard...again you can't exactly go touring without luggage. That being said this might be my next bike after my tracer 900 gt
@bennettsbikesocial3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Russ. Yes, a lot of comments about the lack of heated grips and panniers as standard but my understanding is the markets around the globe don’t necessarily match rider’s needs from the UK. That said, an adjustable screen, seat and the inclusion of a centre stand would have added to the versatility but also the price. Cheers, Michael
