New Symmetra Rework Gameplay [Overwatch]

The goal of these changes is to move Symmetra to her new damage role and make her more flexible and viable across more areas of the game than she was previously. Now that Symmetra is no longer a support hero, she is expected to be able to dish out heavy damage, and these changes allow for her to do so. She should be more powerful and interesting in more team compositions and maps, and she should also be stronger on offense and defense.
- Photon Projector
*No longer locks onto targets
*Range increased to 10 meters
*Damage ramping now takes 2 seconds per damage level instead
of 1 second
*Damage ramp increased from 30/60/120 to 60/120/180
*Now generates ammo instead of spending it when hitting a
barrier
- Alternate Fire
*No longer pierces targets
*Now explodes on contact
*Projectile speed increased
*Charge up speed increased
*Damage changed to 60 impact / 60 explosive
- Sentry Turret
*Turret is now placed like a projectile instead of being set in place
*Can hold a max of 3, down from 6
*Can now deploy a max 3, down from 6
*Damage increased
*Amount of slowing effect increased
- Teleporter
*Can now place the exit up to 25 meters away from Symmetra
*Entrance will automatically be built in front of Symmetra, rather
than at her team’s spawn point
*Lasts 10 seconds
*Health lowered to 300
*More things can teleport through it (e.g. Junkrat’s RIP-Tire)
*Entrance can be destroyed
*If either the entrance or exit is destroyed, the other is removed
- New Ultimate: Photon Barrier
*Deploys a barrier that is big enough to span and cut through an
entire map
*Orientation can be changed by pressing the ultimate button again
*Has 5000 health

Sym has become the "embodyment of chaos"! In qp there are always turrets appearing from nowhere, crazy tp, enemies and allies tp as much as they can, sym places barrier, kills u, but u dont even understand cus her attack doesnt make too much noise, ur hp just fades, u dont even understand whats going on! her slow orbs were super usefull when spamming a small choke with small ones. big orbs should only be used right in the face of someone as small ones are basically undodgeable when fired straffing left to right and small ones build ut waaaay faster. Her orbs exploding on hit kills the dps potential regardless of charge speed. her orbs were the most damaging thing in the game in a choke. in a choke a charged orb would usually hit at least three or four people. thats 480 damage off of each orb. nobody does that much damage with one shot of a primary or alt fire.

The Ulti Voiceline appears bugged. The voice line that is heard by the player should be the same as what the enemies hear (in the hero's native language if it is not English), and teammates hear an English one that is easy to understand ("Fire at will!" "Rocket Barrage incoming!" "Tactical Visor Activated!"). Here the sym player hears "Reality bends to my will!" when deploying the ult.

If you place a teleporter and have a torb. Build his turret next to it, when he finishes upgrading you can just teleport the turret. The new teleporter is op and I love it. It gives more people access to the high ground and you can prank people with it via dva and junkrat tire

Drazan she still get a damage boost....instead from 30/60/120. It’s 60/120/180. But it takes 2 sec to level up to next level of damage. So she can just take down a barrier so quick with her ammo regeneration when hit shields. And melt tanks into puddle if you have enough decent aim. Imagine discord + full charged symmetra.

she does less damage now with her alt fire, that cant go through shields. has no way to charge in or protect herself from ults in losing her photon barrier. loses three turrets, skillfull symetra players had no problem placing turrets mid fight. no more saving your team with a shield gen or teleporting your team back to the point from spawn which was crucial. so really all they did was make her alt fire not go through shields and people, took away her lock on, cut her turrets in half, took away her personal shield and got rid of her shield gen and teleporter from spawn for a stupid barrier that last 15 secs....yea really big buff.

4touchdowns1game Everything you just said is immediately questionable the moment you said the alt fire can’t go through shields. It still does and you clearly see it go through the enemy sym ult shields when shot. Not only that, but it charges faster and moves faster, making it harder to dodge and less niche to use it in a choke. That teleporter by the way is a huge help in mobility for characters that don’t have it. Want Ana to sit on top of the gate in Anubis like in her trailer? You can now with the new teleporter as it’s placed like a Mei wall now. And the shield ult is great protection for the team with the only thing able to blast through it single handedly is a Roadhog ult. And let’s not forget the ammo buff for her. She is a clear counter to the Brigitte meta now by melting through shields and allowing people to get away from her and Zarya/Hanzo ults. She is drastically different, but it’s undeniable that these changes are healthier for a team based game where she can be more versatile and provide more for a team. She is going to be no longer considered a troll pick anymore because of her new versatility. And this is coming from someone with Sym as his 5th most played hero. I dropped her because she wasn’t as engaging as Ana, Dva, or my main Mei for me and I look forward to playing her again.

4touchdowns1game actually, the beam now does much more damage, the turrets damage and slow got increased, the fact that they are throwable gives her and advantage in a fight, the barrier has 5,000 hp. Don't know about you, but I'd say that is a huge buff

Jason Lopez funny how you act like you k ow what you are talking about when you clearly do not. Her alt fire explodes now on hit. So what if it goes through a barrier it still is going to explode on the rein or orisa it hits. The old orb would pass through the whole team dealing more damage in a choke than anything in the game. Like I said only those who don't know how to play sym think this is good. She also could block ults with her photon as is and now that dlot is taken by a crap teleporter that cant even get your team back from spawn.

Rework is cool but I miss lock on, the mini shield, 6 sentries, and shield generator. I do like the wall, being able to throw sentries, and teleporter as a regular ability though. I'm glad the beam still charges as well.

Everyone complains about how you need no aim for Symmetra before but what about Moira? Their damage fire is basically the same thing. Edit: People have brought to my attention that Moira's beam is different and more aim intensive. Sorry. 😅

Just Plant Things Moira's beam is way harder to latch, the pre-rework Sym could get the enemy even outside your FOV. (Sorry if there's anything wrong, i don't speak english well.)

Melody Masculino Your English is pretty good! In addition to that, Moira needs to use her beam to heal and hers does really low damage, so they're not really comparable.

Melody Masculino Moira doesn’t latch on either. It just has that visual representation that it does. The latch on mechanic in Overwatch lets you still deal damage when your aim leaves the initial hitbox to begin damage. Example: harder to let go with Sym beam when it latches. Or Mercy’s healing beam where she can turn around while still healing. Moira has a consistent damage box where if you aim in the general circle it triggers and will go away when your enemy is outside the circle. There’s a reason why she has an aim % stat. Winston’s gun is the same. It’s a cone that stays the same just looks like it latches on to anyone in the cone.

At first I thought the new aim was a downer but I really love how the range goes. She's kind of like a more powerful Zen. Especially the new turrets placement tossing over the place you want instead of walking up to place it. Is the new ultimate voice line in Sanskrit? Tell if I'm wrong. Still going to build my Symmetra hours up to 100! 😄

Still needs some fine tuning but I can see this build working quite well. I especially love the how the sentries fly out like projectiles, could make for some very interesting stealth placements. The changes to the gun are much better, faster ramp with longer range but no longer locks on. Honestly I've gotten way to many on fires, potgs and cards for damage and elims as Symetra, it just feels unfair now. Anyone with half a brain can lasso that buck and bronco and absolutely destroy as her. It's always good to see changes that optimise skill over aggression or rng. The ult I feel probably needs a lot of work. It could make mean the difference between a team defending against a push or not as well as sheildable ults, but from the gameplay it appears a bit clunky and very situational in terms of utility. I do however think it suits her lore much more, she is an "architect" meant to alter structures around her, not an engineer like Lil' ol' Torbjorn.

Anybody else wishing that the ultimate lasted more than a couple of seconds. Kinda defeats the purpose of a 5000 health shield. Maybe until she dies or until the shield is destroyed. This wouldn't only buff symetera but also sombra making her ult more viable.
