my thoughts of AOTY nomination: if Rep is nominated, it has a pretty big chance to win AOTY. And Grammy academy don't want to see that happen, because they think Rep is not good as Fearless or 1989. They believe the best Taylor is yet to come, so they decide not give her a third AOTY so soon, and cancel the nomination is the only safe way.

The thing that I find upsetting is that people are using the Grammys snubbing Taylor as a reason to undervalue her contributions. Delicate was #24 on The Billboard Year End songs chart yet they just released a list of the best songs of the year and they put it at #36?!? People are also using streaming against Taylor because she's the number 4 streaming artists for female and not the number 1. Last time I checked, people don't stream an artist that much when they already OWN her music. She has so many radio number one singles and so many radio singles that stay on the radio. It's frustrating. Literally if Taylor Swift decided to not release an album and just release a single a month next year, she'd have 12 #1 or near #1 singles. Because everyone would buy and stream them. People turn on what's popular and build up what's niche or indie and call it "cool." This is a move against her popularity and it sucks. Taylor wrote the lyrics to, composed and executive produced Reputation. Instead of holding up her achievements, they undervalued and underappreciated her. It'd be one thing if they just had 5 spots, but they expanded it to 8 spots. They have a bias against Taylor and it infuriates me. She had the number 1 album and the number 1 tour in the United States this year and the highest grossing US tour of all time and yet the album that brought that about isn't even nominated?!?

what’s crazy about h.e.r’s AOTY nomination is that she’s also up for best new artist. so the grammys aren’t claiming she’s some music megastar who’s been in the game for years and that everyone should know her. they put her up for best new artist because she’s only risen to prominence in the last year. her album is really great and it just shows that the grammys aren’t ruling our debuts from new artists for AOTY and are including them if they’re good enough. And about janelle monae, her nomination for AOTY is incredibly deserved. Yes she didn’t have any hit singles this year, but she’s not nominated for record or song of the year. And even so, the grammys aren’t supposed to be about sales and hits, rather about quality of music. Obviously the lines are going to be blurred sometimes as usually the music that sells well is good music, but sometimes there are incredible albums that just don’t get the same hype as the biggest artists but are of a much higher standard than the best selling ones. Dirty Computer is a masterpiece and I highly highly recommend you listen to it! Anyway reputation deserved more do not get me wrong! Post Malone’s album was unlistenable to me and I truly believe Taylor deserved that spot

Well you have right about grammys Lauren. They aren't as good as in past. They nominated scorpion by Drake who had only streams on spotify. Without spotify he would have about 1M sales in his whole career. reputation in pure sales outsold all albums nominated for AOTY this year together. And it's weird for delicate to not be at least nominated for ROTY or SOTY. It ruled over radio for a more than 7 months. Also lyrics in reputation are so much better than all nominee's lyrics. I'm so mad because of what happened to reputation. Same happened to Red in 2014 Grammys award. AOTY win some unknown artist we never heard about. I'm actually surprised about your opinion on this one! I agree that Taylor was snubbed, but at the same time, we have to realize that there is A LOT of other music out there besides hit pop music that "everyone" has heard of. I think of the Grammy's as being less about the record sales than other award shows. I'm excited to see the movies with Joe. They are awesome time piece films. Great to get to see more of him out and doing his thing. As far as the Grammys I'm very sad. However I dont think awards are important. The sold out shows and crazy sales of the album I truly believe mean more to her. 💗😁
