I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: it has been really cool to watch Matty’s progression and confidence in his technical club reviews. It really shows up in videos like this where Ian hits and Matty analyzed the shots. It especially shows up in videos where Matt fits Ian to new clubs. Early on it was obvious that Ian was still directing the fitting to some degree. Then Matt started learning and it became a little more of a fitting, and recently it’s become a discussion between the two of you and Ian gets to concentrate on just hitting and doling out the little subtleties of his mastery of club fitting. Matt has been the onscreen representation of all of us watching, I love it!

I heavily agree, its awesome to see the evolution of Matty's fitting skills, and its awesome to see Ian put the instruction he gave Matty into his own swing thoughts.

really enjoyable! i can't believe we're talking about a three iron being too exacting when we used to see one irons in this category. forty years ago i'd never go to the course w/o my hogan apex 2 one iron. what a difference tech makes and the ability to test we have today.

Had a fitting today. Went in thinking Mizuno MP-20 MB, came out with these. Mizuno has just cancelled the MP-20 MB line. Loved their feel, so sad to see them go. But, my dispersion with the P7MB was remarkably good on Trackman, and the feel is really solid. I got a great fitting thanks to the knowledge I've gotten watching you guys. So, my '84 Hogan Apex PCs will finally be retired. I did order the 3 iron. If I can hit my Hogan 3, I can hit this one. Might come in and out of bag depending on the course.

Speaking of swingweight - can you guys do a video or discussion on how weight, swingweight and weighting overall affects certain aspects of a persons swing and how you would go about working that into the fitting and/or countering a tendency. Example a shaft has more weight in the tip would some players have issues controlling the backswing length - and would you move to a shaft with more butt weight, or heavier grip..etc to help tune their swing?

With a forged heavy press we’re talking about density. More dense metal would imply more mass behind impact point unless they have gradual pressing at different points around the center. Maybe they made the alloy more dense around the outside for a forged perimeter weighting.

I have always found it funny when people said, "There's no difference in how the sole interacts with the turf. This one is the same as last year's." I have always been able to tell how a sole interacts with the turf and how some clubs might suit me better than others. I'm glad you guys talked about how you can definitely tell how the sole interacts and how it can help you if the sole suits your swing.

If you can strike it consistently then you can play a blade tbh. when I switched to a blade it made me way more consistent on my strikes. then when you start to work the ball left and right and control the flight it makes golf fun. then you start to look at how you wanna hit the approach shot into the greens. after playing blades I’ll never go back too even a players iron. The feel is so pure and nice

Some players just want to use blades. They don't mind hitting the ball out of bounds if every once in a while they get to feel that buttery solid contact feel when they strike the ball. I actually started playing golf using a set of 1960's Wilson Staff blades. My handicap did not improve when I went to a Ping Eye2 or Tommy Armour 845s Sliver Scot cavity back iron. I played better with those old blades. And enjoyed hitting them although it sure did hurt the hands when I didn't hit it well on the face of the club.

It's interesting how even the pro's want a little bigger blade length. For me, I could use a blade as thin as a piece of paper, but I do want some heel to toe length to look down on. P730 was tiiiinyy...!

The P7MB are beautiful looking irons! I know if I were looking for new irons I would look at comboing these with the MB's in the longer irons. Glad to see that Taylormade is really investing in their iron products and producing something that performs just as good at they look, like they did with SIM this year!

I was fitted for P760 back in January and love the 8-PW, however struggle with consistency with the 6-7 irons. I'm used to hitting blades in the past (Mizuno MP20 and Cobra Forged MB) and just find the 6-7 feel like I'm trying to hit a hockey stick, and the size difference is minimal compared to my prior irons. Are any of these three new releases a good combo mix with the P760 to replace the 6-7 iron and give me a more blade type look, but still have some of the forgiveness of the 760's?

A lot of you tubers describe the feel of a club as solid. It’s not unique to forged or cast clubs either. So my question is, what does ‘solid’ mean when describing feel? Is it firm like the tiger iron where they have a tungsten weight behind the sweet spot? Is it soft like a mizuno, for example?
