I like that AE decided to use a long arm design for the buggy. The reason why that makes sense to me, and he explained what the effects should are. Is that a longer arm makes the suspension maintain the dialed geometry throughout more of the travel. Whether that is compressing, extending, or leaning.

One more thing we forgot to mention.... There are option HRC (High Roll Centre) rear hubs in the kit, allowing for a effectively +4 and +5 rear axle height. Especially useful on carpet to get that rear end rotating!
@extec1019 ай бұрын
Same as xray that got lower mounting point for the pivot pin on rear carpet hubs.

Thanks for this. Very insightfully. Hopefully I can get mine built before the next Bury meeting.

Great video and a great looking buggy. Those roll bars are super nice, perhaps a small change compared to others but very pleasing.

Any thoughts if the d or carpet version is closest to a Astro setup? My Astro set up for the 6.3 is very close to what y’all were running.

I feel like it’s suited more for carpet tracks or mod class. It’s going to be heavy compared to the b6

Thank you! Do the C and the D version share the same chassis ?
@hallbrothersrc33089 ай бұрын
Yes, they both come with the same chassis. 👍
@bigbuckoramma9 ай бұрын
As far as I am aware, the only differences between the two kits, is the front axle width (wider on the Carpet), the slipper pads (yellow vs white), the differentials (ball vs gear), and spring and piston packages. Otherwise, they are, effectively, the same kit. With all of the rear end wheel base adjustment, there isn't really the need for the +3 chassis anymore.

Well as of today (1/30) AE announced the option and spare parts list, and included in those parts is a -4mm chassis. For those times when you need #AllTheSteering I guess.

Race buggy design is so refined (or stale) that even small changes are seen as significant. All the brands are virtually identical, probably because the tracks are homogenous. If there was a variety of surfaces and track designs, brands would have to choose a condition to prioritize, and racers would need to find ways to get their buggies as well as possible overall. If 3 tracks were sandy, 3 were hard-pack and choppy, and 3 tacky, buggy design would matter more. It'd be more interesting.

Lame British Astro tracks.....Boring !!

Those carpet tracks may as well just do away with jumps all together. The clay tracks in the Usa have big awesome triples and table tops, step ups ect

How much different does a b7 drive or feel on track compared to a 6.4?

Probably non. Improve your skills, not your car

I bet significantly different. It's great to have the newest car on the market, but it will not make you a better driver. Drove the LD2 and it felt like wow i can push this car really hard and it corners like nothing else but it didnt change my lap times.. bet if you put effort in with any car to drive better you can reduce your times.
@Al3xisAE9 ай бұрын
It’s quite a bit different, it carries very good corner speed and has a lot of grip. We ran 2.5 rear toe on wet astro and it was ok
@bigbuckoramma9 ай бұрын
Other things worth mentioning... New front Servo Mount, being a one piece plastic unit. The New Battery Hold Down system also has more adjustment fore and aft than the 6.4. Front and rear shock towers are also all new, and narrower than the 6.3/4 gulwing towers. New One Piece Shock Tower Protection on the rear. And a Quick Disconnect front shock tower Cover up front. The underside of the chassis, the forward 3 sets of screws on the gearbox can be removed from the gearbox mount to promote additional flex at the rear of the chassis for grip. The Higher Roll Center Hubs in the rear for the Carpet boys, for more axle height. And finally, some of the parts inter-compatibility with the older 6.X transmission components. That the idler gears are all the same. And the bearing sizes are all the same. And with a axle bone swap to the 69mm 6.3/4 axle with the smaller ball ends, you should still be able to run older 6.3/4 diffs, so things like your MOD Puck Systems should transfer straight across. It would be nice to see this practically shown. Not that i dont believe a World Champion, but i would like to see it with my own eyes all the same.

Nothing changes. If you believe that. Your car is good for the trashcan within 6 months. Skill is more important than 1mm here 1mm there. That's what every beginner driver falls for. I need the best everything to be good, absolutely untrue
@Al3xisAE9 ай бұрын
The base car even with kit setup is extremely good, so much mid corner grip in loose conditions. Maybe not the straight line drive of the b6.4d but better in every other way

Don't like the chassis with plastic hanging over in the back- where you are going to rub it and wear it off. Also, some of the holes for screws are off and don't line up. What a mess

After 30 years with associated time to leave .people we are paying for r and d for associated they release new cars to much probably with in a year the will have a b7.1 because they rush to release cars without enough track time on them to make the car great so a car a year seems to be the associated way
