As someone else said, Nigel had to remove banned substances (Lilial) from fraiche and she couldn’t recreate. Lilial is said to be harmful to fertility. So Hermes decided to discontinue and replace with Eau Givree. “European legislation has declared allergen a component widely used in perfumery. Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche contained this component and it was not possible to substitute it without distorting the fragrance. Terre d'Hermes Eau Très Fraîche is thus removed from our collections. A new Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée fragrance will be released soon before this summer. It will be different but will offer another interpretation of freshness. We thank you for your trust and understanding."

From what I’ve heard, Eau Tres Fraiche was discontinued because of some component that was declared allergen. So the new Eau Givree is supposed to replace Tres Fraiche. As for the new cap, the new bottle was designed to be more sustainable thats why the previous plastic cap was replaced with new metal one. Tho I am very disappointed that the cap doesn’t twist, it was something really unique…

My purchase was the EDT in '09, sadly I just can't come to love it. I don't dislike it, but it's just okay. So there's always something I'd rather wear instead 😑

I never did like the T d’ H twist top - I much prefer the proper cap; and I think the refillable bottle is brilliant: all perfume bottles should be refillable. Haven’t sampled Eau Givrée yet, but I get the sense that I will like it a lot. I do enjoy lemon/cédrat forward scents and citrus in general. Great presentation - thanks for the review.

Is nice to know you like it Eugen, I will need to take a look soon and fortunately I have my Eau Tres Fraiche to enjoy, I was listening Varanis Ridari (The Scented Devil) talking about this change, he said Hermes send a letter explaining Eau Tres Fraiche was basically imposible to reformulate after lthe atest IFRA updates, which means they tried but no good luck, so they just decided to introduce this new one to fill that room.

I look forward to testing it. Eau fraiche is a lovely fragrance but for me it’s a touch too dirty for what it is. I believe it’s the cumin that throws a wrench in it for me so this new one sounds a bit more appealing. Your take is always appreciated Eugen.

I found the dirtyness separated it from the sea of other freshies which gave it its own character. You might enjoy this cleaner version.

Eau Tres Fraiche was my go-to spring freshie for so many years. Still love the opening, but after working in the garage one summer day and fully experiencing the synthetic gumminess in the drydown, I was turned off. Kind of ruined it for me. Realized that D&G used the same vetiver in Light Blue Forever too. Anyway, Ben from Talking Scents mentioned that Eau Givree was quite similar to LJd Monsieur Li. Thoughts?

@@BeautyofScent Nope! But on my skin, EG turned into the scent of dry, bitter clementine pith in the drydown. No juice at all, just the pith. On clothing, it's a bit better, but it takes some getting used to. Still love that opening though. Magical.

Eau Trés Fraiche to me is one of the best warm weather fragrances ever, very Roudnitska maybe, like a twist on Eau Sauvage EDT?...a real booster. I think the era post Jean Claude it's not an easy job to handle for Hermes. They will need time. Same as for Barcelona after Messi, how to replace a figure of that caliber? I think they need to the long crossing of the desert. Thank you Eugene for this interesting video.

Eau Tres Fraiche isn’t able to be reformulated in a way that Hermes would be pleased is now the understanding of this new flanker. Which makes more sense.

I never liked Eau Tres Fraiche. The citruses were very sharp and very synthetic artificial smelling. I hope this smells more natural even though I'm not a fan of Nagel.
