Some Grapevine residents said the addition to a new commuter rail line has caused them to lose sleep because of the sound of bells they hear in their sleep.

Just leave it to American homeowners to complain about literally anything and everything.

The Bell... You're complaining about the bell?!?! It's a requirement for the crossing whether it is a normal crossing, or in this case, a Quiet Zone. Try living in Flagstaff Arizona, over 100 freight trains a day in the busy season, and ten years ago, it wasn't a quiet zone.

Yeah. Should the people complain about the trains horn and not the crossing?

I would live close to the track so I can film a train all day.

Its the first week. They need some time to adjust to it. I have relatives living near a railroad crossing in The Netherlands, where we laugh at 42 trains per day (100+ trains per day there). They don't even hear the railroad anymore. Give it a month and its all fine.

Exactly not where trains are supposed to turn of their engines to be more quiet because apparently just passing a crossing isn’t quiet enough.

People who live by the TRE are laughing at them. EDIT: I forgot Colleyville tried to block it and the gap between Smithfield and Grapevine station is huge. Colleyville should've gotten on board.

Well the simplest solution would be very small but help a lot. And that is to not keep the bell going after the gates are already down. I mean the lights are already there and the gate is already down so you may as well.

Guess what folks, the train Track was there before her house was built... maybe check your surroundings before building or buying a home...and when you buy a home that’s really cheap... well, could be reasons the cost is low... hence a train !!!!!

“It’s supposed to be a quiet zone” “There’s nothing quiet about it” Dude the bells are a requirement for safety. How nosey do you have to be to say that just because of a damn train passing and it not even honking it’s horn. That train is more quieter the the crossing bell and your still complaining about the crossing bell which isn’t even that loud and it’s a requirement

Imagine a train derailment into your house Kathy because your lawyer got the crossing changed and took away the warning bells. I am surprised she didn't complain about the flashing lights as well.

I live near a Dart station and these horns don’t bother me. I know the SLRVs are equipped with whistles but they’re also equipped with freight horns. Although they’re not as loud as a locomotive horn, these horns will sound to cross a traffic signal.

I use to live RIGHT next to a railway crossing, RIGHT next to a station. Trains would run as often as every 10 minutes but I never complained. Just a 1-2 second toot that's it!

Usually railways come first but I hear that DART will be using long abandoned track for the Silver Line. That should be interesting to see what locals thing about it. Especially since the trains being used will be the same.

Wah wah wah. People complain about so much. Move out if you don’t like it! And Martha Fussell sounds like the biggest Karen to me. *hOpEfUlLy ThEy’Ll ChAnGe ThE tRaIn’S hOuRs* just so that one person can sleep without hearing a crossing bell. And PSA: A ‘Quiet Zone’ means that the trains won’t blow their horns while crossing through grade crossings. It doesn’t mean that crossings won’t have bells to alert drivers and the visually-impaired of the presence of an oncoming train.

The Grapevine Vintage Railroad has been around since the beginning of the Tarantula Train in the early 1990's. I know it sounds like support for TexRail, but its not. the difference is that the GVRR is a tourist train, and it's horn is only heard twice a day in certain neighborhoods. But with TexRail, the neighborhoods are affected negatively by horns sounding all day and all night. So, I do NOT support TexRail at all. They should not have even been there to begin with. It'll only be a matter of time before GVRR will be shut down due to TexRail. F**K TexRail!!!

Hey now don’t start that complaint. I know TexRail started this, but people need to move out and never start complaining about the horns, and the crossing bells?!!! That’s ridiculous
@ccentralchannel4492

Thomas Weekley You are completely wrong. Tarantula Train only goes all they way to the Stockyards. TexRail is only a commuter rail that carries people to the airport. This does not affect GVRR. Does the GVRR Take you to the Airport, Amtrak station, Busses, Downtown. towns in the Tarrant County area? No. So quit the bullshitting.

First from me, are you insane? GVRR will not be affected by this and will probably not get shut down. Second, the testings done and there are no more horns. If youe are botherd by the crossing bells then just move.
