This tech talk is above my pay grade but super cool nonetheless! So much goes into creating the right sound. These guys know what’s up!

Can you believe this vid was totally unscripted and just how we talk in real life haha! Two geeks..just geeking! We def plan to add in how the drums sounds and playing of course! Anything you’d like to see?! Thanks for watching 🙌

Always something new to learn with all this stuff haha! But yeah, it all adds up to a certain sound. What was your biggest take away with this part of the vid? Thanks for watching btw 🙌
@oldludwig4 сағат бұрын
@@therealjonsmith1 The most interesting thing for me was the fact that DW heads are sturdier than normal Remo heads, with a reinforcing metal strip around their hoop. Plus Thomas' explanation of the interplay of the heads against the shell and the importance of bearing edges and their function.

Wow, as a DW Collector kit 8 pc owner, I always find something else to add to my collection. Yes, pricey, but you oay for California laws, taxes and political B.S. that run up the cost. Plus the workmanship is awesome, thank John Goode and Don LOMBARDI for making my kit, see avatar. Plus Thomas rocks.😊
@therealjonsmith17 сағат бұрын
Yes! Def hear that haha. DW makes top stuff for sure. A lot of companies are making great drums these days of course. I’m a fan. John and Don are pioneers and love all this geeky stuff too. Oh yeah, Thomas is a gem of a guy, and very approachable. Thanks so much for being here and for your comments..and your service..it’s very appreciated! 🙌

You should set up a monster kit and do a video solo - maybe consider some triggers

That’s a great idea! I’m working on getting some more videos up soon, including a solo!

I love dw drums.. but theyre not affordable for the working man. I do love their hardware and snares. I can afford those every few years 😅

Yeah, they can be pricey for sure, but their hardware is super solid!

Gorgeous kit...but I play Yamaha..
@therealjonsmith17 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yeah, Thomas’ DW Drums are sick! Yamaha also makes some of the best stuff too 🤘🤓 What Yamaha kit do you play btw?
@devilsden22837 сағат бұрын
@therealjonsmith1 I played and still have my '88 recording custom series kit but at age 69 and the dream behind me I currently play to tracks on a Yamaha DTX 10 kit...as much as I hated Simmons & Korg pads back in the day I must admit these ekits of today are excellent and fun to play!

@@mattnormandrums ---Nah, he should have sampled those drums after speaking in so much detail....it's what makes a good interview and experience.

@@Joesfosterdogs again, Thomas almost always plays DW Collector’s Series Maple drums. There’s tons of footage with those shells available, both iPhone audio and professionally mixed.

Hey Bradley! Thanks for watching! This is my first video with Thomas and it’s interview style, unlike almost everything on the internet haha. For sure we plan to have him play and show the recording process, and sounds, etc! I had to start somewhere and working to do this kind of thing a little different than all the other circus drumming channels. Hope that doesn’t sound assholian 🤘😆 I’m on it brotha!! Thank you again for being here. More otw!! Btw, who and what would you like to see?

How can DW afford to be giving this guy over $50,000 worth of drums every couple of years. He's gotta be covering the cost price at least?
@rnl95202 күн бұрын
Is it me or is that a sloppy burst job on that kick on the right (left foot kick)
@my101snaredrumsКүн бұрын
Nice catch…I would have to agree. Even the RH bass drum has it.
@therealjonsmith17 сағат бұрын
It was me…too at first haha! And, btw..I don’t work for Thomas or DW. They can defend themselves if needbe. Burst finishes are old school type finishes that are just that..vintage burst finishes. They aren’t meant to be perfect modern fades. That means DW nailed it! Also, in editing, I noticed shadows and reflections from the hardware, which can also distort our perception. Was there anything you liked about the video?

Dw is over hyped and expensive because Dw gives all there expensive drums to people like thomas lang and need to make that money back 😂dw collectors are a over priced PDP🤣
