The Splash Tank James is actually part of the Wobbly Cargo Thomas and Carnival Diesel wave. Wobbly Cake and Frosting Diesel are it's own wave. Also you might have also missed that the body of James also has little metallic sparkles in his paintwork which explains the darker red body.
