New Timegrapher Day! Let's adjust my Omega Speedy Pro on it! Sept 26, 2023

I check out, test, and adjust my Omega Speedy pro on-camera. Looking at the numbers, poking some buttons, adjusting the accuracy dial up & dial down.
Bonus content: putting a bracelet in a rock tumbler.
After 13-something years, my old timegrapher was done. So, got a new upgraded one with a way better display.
My test subject was my Omega Speedy Pro. It's a 2007 that I serviced seven years ago
PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, usually none. We have zero script, no planning, no real editing, nothing. Same for the sound - I forget my microphone pretty regularly, so if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. Mr Klein please put some new spring bars on your Speedy. A very popular watch but you hardly see them being worn out in the wild maybe a safe or sock draw queens. Nice seeing the new timegrapher in action.

That's funny my uncle growing up used to say "Good enough for the girls we go with!" and I've never heard anyone else say a version of that. He'd usually follow it up with "Don't tell your aunt I said that." I've been wanting to test and see how well a cheap $30 sandblaster from Harbor Freight would do soda blasting a watch case but am unsure if the PSI of my air compressor is high enough to allow for a nice uniform finish. I know they do a great job at removing rust off parts for restoring cars.

I used for some time a strange 3d printed box off ebay which I hooked up to my PC and using Tg 5.0 found quite useful to regulate but then it broke and I bought a 1000 and OK the 1000 lacks the aural graph Tg has which means you can get a movement really into beat by matching the dwell etc, I have done quite well with the ol' Weishi since. I am in the process of making a Weishi mic adapter to hook up to my PC, very cheap to make and quite robust too so means I can Tg whenever I want to but will just use the Weishi as it is a damned fine machine :D

Lift angle is probably out so that’s why is shows very high amplitude. Anyway all the Speedmasters I have regulated has good amplitude.

Curious about your rock tumbler. Did you buy a barrel type or vibrating type tumbler? What grit did you use to get the frosted finish?

You don’t want to adjust and then check face sideways and up? -1 might be 0 on its side right? Nice to watch

Nope. Get the first position right, and build from there, as I did. Adjusting and testing would require putting the caseback on every time, and the fewer times we have to touch a watch when it is open, the better.

Just a basic rock tumbler and, in this case, #1 coarse grit for the first round of rock tumbling.

When I have to use my demagnetiser, I have to hold my watch on it and then slowly raise it up and up and up and up and then sometimes it demagnetises it and sometimes it doesn’t. Whereas with yours you just went, click, and it’s done. Can you share what your demagnetiser is please?

It's a big old Vigor, made in Japan. I never lift them up and away - the demagnetizer doesn't keep going. In my experience they give a single burst - bam! - and that's it. Plunk the watch on the demagger, hit the button, test the numbers to see if they're different.
