Amsoil Upper Cylinder Lube's pretty good, but it's a bit costly. It also raises the fuel economy a bit, but it's not worth it alone for fuel economy unless you're driving a highly fuel inefficient car. I also tried using a Diesel Additive, Opti-Lube XL (their best additive for raising lubricity alone) in my 05 Explorer. I did it because I had it on hand, from a gallon jug, and it's cheaper than Amsoil UCL (if bought by the gallon.) My car's still running fine (I only used it for 4 or 5 tanks, though.) I don't have definite A-B-A-B testing for if adding this to gasoline worked to just raise fuel efficiency (which was my primary reason for using it.) I also have no idea what the long-term effects on a Gas engine are if it runs this particular Diesel additive. However, if used in nearly the same ratio, OLXL seemed to be better than AUCL for reducing wear.

Great progress guys. Reason the carb didn't leak before is because the bowl never got full so it had no pressure. Get a carb rebuild kit and redo the jets, floats as well as the valve in the bowl. All new gaskets and she will be as good as new. Rebuild kit should have everything you need.

What's so handy about these old dodges is the fact most bearings all throughout it are standard machine bearings that can be found easily usually there is a number on the race edge that states its part number. Also all oil seals throughout this truck are standard parts. Now days most manufacturers use bearings and seals that can only be bought from the dealer because they make them specifically to fit their design....good luck yall are a bunch of hard working determined fellers..that's kinda rare these days

When I was 16 I bought a 52' Dodge Half ton, flat six, "Pilot House" 5 window cab, but it was running at the time, for $400.00. Took an ol' timer from my Dad's shop to tell me about that...

Carb rebuild is due. Also take a blow gun and blow out the lines before the pump to make sure everything is clear from there to the tank. You can also pressurize the fuel tank to get fuel to the carb easier and quicker but be careful that you dont blow out the gasket on that fuel bowl like I did on an atlas 10k forklift
@WeBleedGreen14 жыл бұрын
@@jerrysmith8086 yeah I'm tracking. But after he blows the lines back to the tank he gonna need a way to get the fuel back to the carb
@dalejohnson93424 жыл бұрын
Take some diesel in the fuel tank and then shake it around to clean some of the crud out so that it can flow through the lines. Also push air through the lines to clear out all the trash in them. If the fuel pump is not working you should be able to take it apart and use a piece of rubberized cloth (like a thin tire sidewall ) to make a new diaphragm for the pump.

Been watching you since you worked on the 2nd Gen in Hawaii. First time I've commented though. Just my opinion but unless you plan to run that engine, I would stop throwing time at it and pull it. It will nickel and dime you to death with what leaks alone. All the seals will be bad for sure and you might end up needing the fire extinguisher afterall. As for the body: there are tons of people out there doing 'patina' vids. Again, just my opinion, but as someone who restores (in my spare time-not a pro) old vehicles- I have a 77 D100, 2 Fieros and a 90 Z24, plus I'm working on acquiring a 73 Nova- I feel this trend of leaving rust is not for me. It feels lazy and half finished when effort is put into the mechanicals and nothing is done to make it look better. Great series so far, just bear in mind that fixing old stuff like this dodge is a marathon, not a sprint. It'll take time. Breathe and enjoy the little wins with it.
