I'm not sure how I went from watching detailing videos to a truck rebuild series, but now I'm committed to watching this project all the way through. I'm not a car/truck person by any stretch of the imagination, but this seems more interesting than watching a weird, gay tiger guy that's affiliated with a murderer. So there's that

I've been watching you guys the reason why the carb is flooding is because of your float level is too high it needs adjusting lower also check the check valve see if it's seating properly

Your float needle valve seems like its stuck open allowing too much fuel into the carburetor and that might be part of the reason its leaking so much

What is your thinking thoughts on why you want to change the engine. The engine thats in it is a very desirable engine to have for a flat head. Just curious as I have your twin truck.
@alexselbert42874 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong never worked on something this old . But you might have issues with the float inside the carb. Take a piece of wood and smack the carb. Sometimes that frees it up. Also the choke should stay open once at operating temp and I think “ throttle” is for your pto to get the rpms up. It’s a manual version of high idle.
@donnatanner3594 жыл бұрын
does it have a 2 speed axle?
@jonathanvan21944 жыл бұрын
The in cab throttle is to rev the truck up when the PTO is activated for the dump bed. When your fuel/air ratio is tuned on the carb you should only have to work the choke to get her to cold start.
@tategrantham12424 жыл бұрын
can’t wait to see this truck finished love the vids
@deeXswanson4 жыл бұрын
the throttle pull out is to run the manual pto so you can winch at a higher rpm ,the spitting in the carb should stop after the rebuild and youmay want to try and blow air backwards thru the gas tank ,open the fill cap and blow back from the carb end those are strong motors and will run forever keep up the hard work and thanks for your service

Don't be too upset about the tire deal. You're lucky to get anybody to do it at all the shape those rims were in and being 2 price rims as well. Most shops wouldn't touch them at all. That's a lot of hard labor there.

Hey man I got a 53 Chevy 3100 start it with half choke and 1/3 throttle....all the throttle does is help it hold idle you should only use it for the first minute and slowly push in the choke and leave it at 1/3 for another minute or two and it should be good
@cedricbroussard87384 жыл бұрын
It would look better painted!! It sounds awesome!!
@garrettrodman48914 жыл бұрын
The choke is to help it start when it’s cold and the throttle cable is to keep it revved up when it had s dump bed that ran off P.T.O. When you rebuild the carburetor and get it set right both of those levers should be able to be pushed all the way in
@garyniedbalski82974 жыл бұрын

I really think that it has two wires crossed on the cap as it is backfiring on open cylinders. Check it till you can say in your heart that you have crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's. I would while you have it running even a little try to get the right rear to spin as well clearing any rust and debris on the shoe and drum surface. I do think that the float might be a bit high causing some of the flood issue. Between the wiring and the fuel draining, you can't get to the air idle ratio as you lose that at about nine hundred rpms. Once it hits right, that motor will idle smooth at five hundred and maintain good oil pressure. I have some ideas as to the looks, Patina is great... but it is not a fix and seeing that much rat crap on the floor and wall of the truck, there has to be some serious rust issues going there. I honestly think the grey is over done on so many rigs that it could be a trim but look at the deep and dark metallic colors on the later dodge trucks, It would be a dodge color, a accent stripe of powder or charcoal grey to break that solid look and then the grill and head lights, the rings in some chrome to lighten that front as it doesn't need the chrome grill bars... If you could find a good stainless metal trim for accent then more power to you two. I really think this project is big enough for two people. Those breaks will eat your lunch before your happy..... Power... I really think the Cummins is over done. I see you finding a dodge or ford since those two marry well being donor's for a front and rear brake assembly as when more power comes, the existing stuff will die. I would do a Coyote engine swap and do it the right way with PCM and electronic controls. I realize that the two of you can barely spell mechanic right now as for learning on the job... It really is a collage education to do this. Both of you will walk heads up when they talk shit on different systems. I wouldn't get into turbo unless your pockets are deep but this will blow the internet up if you remain loyal to the members, you can get some swag to sell and other which is going to take both of you as a team as to the both of you getting involved. Dipping will have a full plate trust me. So great luck guys.... a mechanic for fifty yeas plus as I am 73.

Choke pulls more fuel throttle increase rpm if u increase fuel u need to increase rpm but u can run just the throttle if u are running the pto or letting it craw thru like a hay feild or up a rough drive way etc. U should only need to use the choke to start it and as it warms up u push it in more an more same with the throttle unless you just use ur foot to keep the rpm a a fast idle. Also it will start alil easier if u bump ur points down to 16to 18 it helps have a strong spark. Hope this helps you. Love the truck.
