I don't think that it is possible to call an action that just runs a script from My Actions ( and the user actions panel in CX/Combo). I have just tested this again and it still does not work for me. I raised this with Tony Kuyper in the past and it would appear to be down to a limitation in UXP. It does work if you record an action that calls the action that calls the script, and then add that to the panels. If you have managed to get it to work I would be glad to know how to do this.

Thanks for that input David. I don't write scripts or often use the ones that come in Photoshop, so this is new territory for me. I just did some testing myself. For some of the canned Ps scripts I did need to use your method of creating an action to run a script and then creating a second action that runs the first action. Not elegant, but a workable solution for someone who uses scripts a lot. Interestingly, if I record scripts such as Delete Empty Layers or Flatten Layer Effects directly into an action (right from the menu, not using the Insert Menu Item function) then the action does work in My Actions. I don't know enough to know what makes these scripts different than others...but at least some scripts seem to work without doing the double action workaround.

Sean is correct. This is the workaround needed for some scripts. It's a known issue discussed in the UXP developers forum.

Hi Sean. I’ve just purchased another couple of your photoshop courses with the discount. Really looking forward to getting stuck into them. I also pick up a Wacom tablet tomorrow so it should be double fun. Hope you had a happy thanksgiving. All the best from the UK.

Can you use a keyboard shortcut to activate one of the “my actions module”? Adding a function like that would be a game changer for productivity. Since Photoshop only lets you use function keys for actions currently

Hey Sean, thanks for all the great TK Panel Video Tutorials First of all. I have a question regarding compatibility. So recently I updated my MacBook and got a new M1 MacBook Pro and also have the newest version of Photoshop. I was still using TK6 but unfortunately I can not install TK6 Plugin now. Is this a compatibility issue and is this working with TK8 again ? Thanks in advance for your answer. Cheers from Germany, Julian

Wishlist: the ability to choose an icon instead of text when adding to MY Actions. I suppose it would be a way to make a custom combo module.

Sean: Thanks to you and to Tony for the videos on the new My Actions Panel. I have a question on PS workspaces. I have one created for my desired panel layout. When I want to update it (like adding the the TK8 MA panel to the workspace layout), there doesn't appear to be a way to just update an existing workspace. I can Reset the workspace, delete the workspace, or Add a New workspace. I know if I use the same name for the New workspace, then finally PS will ask me if I want to update the existing workspace. Do you know if there is a way to just directly update an existing workspace?
@SeanBagshaw2 жыл бұрын
Hi Keith - This is kind of a strange attribute of workspaces. They are essentially always updating. Anything you change in a workspace will stay that way until you change it again. No updating required. So, just go to your workspace, add the new module where you want it and you are done. The next time you open Photoshop, everything in that workspace will be right where you left it.

@@SeanBagshaw Thank you Sean. If I were to manually move panels around (I do this sometimes just because I need something else that is not in my normal workflow), then do a “Reset” Workspace, does it also keep the updated workspace status (like adding the TK8 My Actions Panel).
@SeanBagshaw2 жыл бұрын
@@NatPhoto56 I think when you "reset workspace" it resets it back to whatever it looked like when you very first created the workspace.

@@SeanBagshaw Guess that’s a good reason to go through the hokey update workspace process when you want to keep new configurations for that workspace.

Hi Sean, The new TK8 My Actions Module seems to be redundant functionality as with the User Actions option in either the TK8 Cx or Combo panels. I'm having a hard time finding the real value of using it.
@datstheone12 жыл бұрын
If you have the screen space, such as dual monitor, then you can have both CX and Combo panels open with one set to the included TK8 Actions, plus My Actions open as well. That give one click access to CX/Combo plus a full set of actions.

I agree, but it´s nice to have.

For me, User Actions in Combo/Cx are good for accessing actions that I use less frequently. Because My Actions can be left open all the time, as I show in the video, I find it is great for one-click access to functions I do all the time, like showing/hiding the rulers, arranging image windows, matching zoom amounts and accomplishing keyboard shortcuts without needing to take my hand off the mouse. I also like that I can arrange and color code in My Actions. Everyone has their own flow, but this module really works well with how I work.
@TonyKuyper2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this probably marks the evolution of the User Actions to their own panel and their eventual removal from Combo/Cx, as they are redundant. Having the My Actions module open all the time makes the user actions so much more accessible that I'm finding I'm creating more actions specific to keyboard shortcuts, especially keyboard shortcuts that require two hands and multiple keys to execute. Much easier just to click once on My Actions. My Actions also has new functionalities such as adding multiple actions at a time to the actions list and rearranging actions once they're added to the list. So there's more flexibility for quickly customizing this panel and updating it whenever needed.
