My local "TJ Maxx" (in Britain, it's called TK Maxx), I was amazed to see a Carrera 132 Digital set in a huge box selling for £299.00 (reduced by £100.00)! Can't justify buying for space reasons but it totally got my inner child all revved up :-)

I cant thank you enough for posting this. I think I bought the last Carrera Evolution on the planet. lol I had no idea digital slot car sets even existed. The good thing about Carrera tracks are they will integrate with digital sets when I upgrade. After I priced the control unit, wireless controls, adapters and a few other things I've decided its cheaper to just buy a digital set and have more track to boot. I cant thank you enough for posting this.

I recently purchased the 80's Flashback set so this video has been a very informative machine for me. I really want to thank you for taking the time to do this in a Carrera digital for Dummies style. i have had Scalextric for about 50 years now so this is a totally new venture for me. i have been attending birthdays, weddings, corporate and charity events with our tracks for the last 13 years and after watching just this first video i feel confident that Carrera Digital is going to be a lot easier to control here's to video no 2 and all the rest

Same set here... When you expand, you will love longer straights. Layout is challenging, but lots of fun as it comes though! I started almost the same, getting our "club" (group of friends) to switch from HO to D132 was challenging, until they tried it.😉 Thanks for the support!!! You will really enjoy the Carrera D132!!!

Hi John - Good video. I'm building another track after a stay of absence, I went for the 124 Digital set. The cars are SOOOO much bigger and detailed and drive heavier around the track, and all it takes to run 124 is the higher 18v power transformer and a couple of cars! Maybe you could introduce them one day in one of your videos in the future? By the way - WHERE DID YOU GET THE SPARE JEWEL CASES FOR YOUR 2 SET CARS???

Hi. I love the 124 cars, and will introduce them for fun runs... keep them out of hot competitions. I believe I snagged a couple jewel cases off Ebay, but if you check with any shop that races, you most likely can get cases there...

Hi John I’m like many who had the old type scalextrix track and cars as a kid then along comes work and distractions like girls but I’ve always had an interest in model cars especially the F1s obviously over the years things change and I know of some guys who’s model railways are now fully digital , and it seems that slot cars are now going the same way I’ve been watching a couple of videos on you tube in the hope I’d find something that would take me through a carrera set up step by step because I know absolutely nothing but I’ve just been watching your slot car mayhem episode 1 and found it to be simply explained and not to technical as some videos I’ve watched and so far I’ve learned about the laying of the track plus putting some sections together before attaching it to the main track and ensuring the red clips that are attached underneath are done so correctly plus how easy this is when it’s done on a well built table which makes sense and will make life so much easier and I’ve learned this just from watching episode 1 so I’m really looking forward to watching all your videos and I’m sure as I do I will be asking you lots of questions in the near future I’ve just liked and subscribed to your channel keep up the good work regards Paul from the Uk 🇬🇧

Hello!! My original starter set was the 80's Flashback, and with careful rotation, can fit on a 10' x 5'-6" edge to edge. The Carrera track is actually 1/24 scale track, thus bigger.

Sure can... this set was wireless, had the required number of R1 I needed for the planned expansion, and had 2 vs 1 lanechangers. Also, I think the out of box layout is interesting and a little different than the normal modified 8. More curve than straights on this one. Last but not least, the price was right.

I plan on watching all of these getting started videos. Thanks for doing it. I bought a pit stop for my DTM Furore 132 set, but I am not sure if it's as simple as swapping it in? Did you buy new extension pieces later? I assume you bought the pit and I just haven't gotten to that video yet.

Actually, yes. It's as easy as swapping it in. I wish the pit lane set came with an additional full straight to extend the layout one length, but it doesn't. The Furore set looks like a good candidate to set it up next to the control unit, as (out of the box) the pit lane will count laps. Instructions can be found for that in the manual that came with your Furore set, not in the manual for the pit lane. Since the expansion, I now have 2 pit lanes one being dedicated for the pace car. Have fun with it!! Fueling is a really fun part of this!!

Are you referring to the Carrera bent overpass? I do not have that item, thought about it, but seemed a bit steep for the planned layout.

Sort of.... The playlist Glendale 65 Build episode 01 is construction of the L-girder style of benchwork. I chose that over a regular table because I wanted the flexibility of design vs a conventional table (16'x8'). Hope that helps.

It is about 65 feet in running length, and overall area of track alone is 15'-7" x 6'-10".

Sounds like you need power taps at additional locations. Track joints add voltage drop.

I believe you are asking about jumper wires? For digital, they simply connect a track section close to the CU to one farther away (providing cleaner power to a far section of track). The goal of these jumpers is to reduce the number of track joints between sources of power sent from the CU. The CU itself can be powered from only a single source, and there can be only 1 CU on a layout. Hope this helps...

They are a bit fussy, but the benefit of larger track (1/24) and the double-length lane changers far outweigh the clip issue, especially considering I am building a permanent layout.
